St. Louis Shooting Reignites Anger Among Activists

Two months after a Ferguson officer killed Michael Brown, setting off intense national debate about law enforcement treatment of minorities, the shooting death of another black 18-year-old by police in nearby St. Louis has reignited anger among activists already planning weekend protests.

Police say Vonderrit D. Myers was shot Wednesday after he opened fire on a white, off-duty officer, but Myers' parents say he was unarmed. Some activists and lawmakers say Myers was targeted because he was black and are asking the Justice Department — which has opened a civil rights investigation into the death of Brown, who was unarmed — to investigate his shooting.

"This here was racial profiling turned deadly," said state Sen. Jamilah Nasheed, a St. Louis Democrat.

The shooting happened as activists and other protesters from around the country prepared for four days of rallies, marches and protests over the Brown shooting. Organizers say the events, which start Friday and include a march Saturday in downtown St. Louis, have taken on added urgency.

"This is a racial powder keg," said Jerryl Christmas, a St. Louis attorney who was among more than 20 black leaders who joined Nasheed at a news conference Thursday outside police headquarters. "All this is going to do is escalate the situation."

This new shooting sounds cut and dried. Man with the gun fired first at the policeman. If they make racial hay out of this one, how will liberals and race baiters get around inconvenient truths that the man was resisting arrest and that he shot first????

Doesn't matter if the perp fired first - his parents say he was unarmed, a good boy who went to church, and was aspiring to become a doctor so he could help cure Ebola.

They’re already saying that the “teen” actually had a sandwich rather than a gun. Yea, right. No matter how much evidence comes out showing the the shooting was justified, expect the mob to become inflamed — and more pregnant ladies to be punched out in “protest.”

Let’s remember that most black people still believe that Church’s Fried Chicken is owned by the KKK and their product is designed specifically to make black men infertile.

If I were a white cop, I simply would refuse to go into any majority black area and would leave black criminals alone if I saw them doing what they do best. It is not possible for a white police officer to do his/her job; they are expected to die at the hands of criminals if they are black. Period.

It’s not just the officer and his/her partner who are put at risk by this impossible situation. Their families are also in danger. Remember that soon after the Ferguson incident, the media showed up and put the cop’s house on camera.

Nobody knew what actually happened, but the media already decided who was guilty. So Officer Wilson couldn’t possibly have known it at the time, but by not being murdered by that hulking, sociopathic bully as he was supposed to, he was subjecting his wife and kids to being savaged by a racially inflamed mob that hungers for blood and plunder.

What the media and race-baiters have accomplished is make it much more difficult for blacks. Review that incident in which a SC State Trooper shot an unarmed black man in a gas station in late September. More incidents are taking place and I think it is in no small part due to white officers becoming more jumpy due to the racial tensions that were fanned by media, politicians and the Al Sharptons who are all politically and economically invested in sowing racial discord.
