Here's Kim's sister on the left.....of course they're asking for handouts....last year N.Korea diplomates were begging Mongolia for food relieve...they're after food whereever they can manage to get it.

As you know the major cities elite and military always get first tabs on anything coming into N.Korea....the rural areas are hanging on by a thread 24/7...while Kim builds his "Pleasure Parks" and stages his shows

Water pleasure park

Farming communities, as pictured outside the capital Pyongyang last year, have been desperately hit by drought which has led to reports of people turning to cannibalism again in a bid to ward off starvation.

I read that after the water park was built, they ORDERED people to go there. Ordered them. Even though the price of a ticket was too much for most of them.

mandatory fun.... as Weird Al might say

and these people are forced to collect food and “fertilizer” and other things for the government on an almost regular basis. Somehow.

Defectors who have successfully crossed the Chinese-NK border are reporting that, as of 2011, the famine began again and has continued in full-swing.

YEs, I read they were ordered there as well...Kim's big on keeping up appearances even though the world knows it's a lie....

Although the elite in the cities seem to do ok when all is considered..at least they tend to eat....some of them are actually pretty chubby....

Must be an old picture because even the elite are feeling the pinch now from what I have read.

...” these people are forced to collect food and “fertilizer” and other things for the government on an almost regular basis. Somehow.”.....

Drugs are used alot by people in N.Korea in order to sustain the grueling work hours and days they have to work. Dugs are also manufactured in N. Korea and a profitable business for the leadership.

Interesting guess what the most frequent demands the elites want....”Viagra”!!!!

I think those people have it down to a science what and how they get things across the border in those balloons...including the timing and wind direction etc...they also have people on the ground over there.

There is nobody on the ground in NK waiting. They drop pretty randomly and being caught picking one up can be a death penalty

I understood that they do communicate with those on the other side when these balloons will be let go....so there are those who are looking for them to come thru...but they have to be careful, usually they ‘bribe the guards’...as so many do when trying to come into S. Korea., who are just about as poor as most in the Rural areas.

Is wonderful to see the South Korean People do something so wonderful. May some of the balloons not be confiscated by the authorities. That one is new to me and would never have thought of such a plan. Kudos to South Korea.
