Courts block voter ID laws in Texas, Wisconsin

AUSTIN, Texas – A federal judge likened Texas' strict voter ID requirement to a poll tax deliberately meant to suppress minority voter turnout and struck it down less than a month before Election Day — and mere hours after the U.S. Supreme Court blocked a similar measure in Wisconsin.

The twin rulings released Thursday evening represent major and somewhat surprising blows to largely Republican-backed voter identification rules sweeping the nation that have generally been upheld in previous rulings.

Approved in 2011, Texas' law is considered among the nation's harshest and had even been derided in court by the Justice Department as blatant discrimination. Wisconsin's law was passed the same year and has remained a similar political flashpoint.

"We are extremely heartened by the court's decision, which affirms our position that the Texas voter identification law unfairly and unnecessarily restricts access to the franchise," U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement. "We are also pleased that the Supreme Court has refused to allow Wisconsin to implement its own restrictive voter identification law."

U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos of Corpus Christi on Texas' Gulf Coast, an appointee of President Barack Obama, never signaled during a two-week trial in September that she intended to rule on the Texas law before Election Day. But the timing could spare an estimated 13.6 million registered Texas voters from needing photo identification to cast a ballot.

The Justice Department says more than 600,000 of those voters, mostly blacks and Hispanics, currently lack eligible ID to vote.

That this is done in the light of vast VOTER FRAUD,
previously organized by Obola and the DO”J”
is knowingly wrong ... if not treasonous.

There is NO correlation between “voter ID” and a “poll tax”!

Those making the assertion are promoting VOTE FRAUD! PERIOD!

Another story (only the 2nd I’ve found) regarding yesterday’s SCOTUS decision blocking Wisconsin’s voter ID and the Ramos decision blocking the Texas law.

I can’t believe that there is not more fuss about these decisions.

FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.

Time to hang the judges. Past time, actually. Build a scaffold and get some rope.

I’ll bet you my next paycheck the Federal District Court in Austin requires photo ID to enter the Courthouse. They do at the Federal District Court in the southern district of Indiana. I wonder of it occurred to the unenlightened Federal judge that he was denying equal access to justice for the poor.

Right, because this is the first election ever and 600K are un-prepared.

Give me a break. If anyone said "show up at the local municipal building with ID and we'll give you $1000.00" you can bet your bottom dollar they would figure out real quick how to obtain an ID.

That Democrat judge is a liar. A higher percentage of Blacks and Hispanics voted in Texas’s first ID election than normal. Doing this four weeks before the election and two weeks before early voting is ridiculous.

Millions of Texas minority members have to have ID to get their welfare checks and their ObamaCare, so this is a bogus argument. Required or not, we will pull out our TX drivers’ licenses and show them to the registrars as our protest against voter fraud in the Lone Star state.

The federal government, the media, and the left will one day push too many of the wrong buttons and attain the civil war they are provoking.

May GOD help us all. It will not be a pleasant time for anyone. White, black or brown, liberal or conservative — all will suffer.

Unjust judges and corrupt rulers will pay at the appointed time.

This judge must be in cahoots with Battleground whatever. They have registered a bunch more voters in big cities and they need cover to let the all vote plus some if needed. If Republican and conservative voters let that happen Texas will be a cesspool in no time. Democrats remind me more and more of the Jackals in Lion King.

HotAir was saying just a few days ago that Democrats were going to try and use Voter ID laws as their excuse if Scott Walker wins reelection. Guess that is out the window, at the very least.
