Unreal: With Ebola Crisis Raging, Obama Administration
Townhall.com ^ | October 17, 2014 | Katie Pavlich

Not only is the Ebola crisis continuing to degrade, but the optics of how the White House has handled the situation are getting worse by the day too.

A new report published at Breitbart shows the Obama administration started expediting visas from West Africa in August as the Ebola was (and still is) raging out of control with a 70 percent mortality rate. According to the report, the man who died from Ebola in a Texas hospital after visiting Liberia, had his visa approved in the same month visas were being streamlined.

In short, the USCIS has been waiving fees, expediting the immigration process, and allowing extensions of visas for anyone coming from the three designated Ebola-stricken countries, provided that they are in the United States. The Free Republic blog reported that the law firm of Edward W. Neufville, III, LLC, a Washington, D.C. area immigration firm, added a section to their website two days after the USCIS announcement, with more details about how these relief measures would work, including extensions of the time that the foreign national could remain in the United States, additional work permit opportunities, and even forgiveness for failure to appear at required interviews or submit required evidence. According to the Neufville firm, the new USCIS policies mean that "[i]ndividuals from Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea currently in the United States may apply for an extension or change in status due to the Ebola Outbreak, even if their request is filed after the authorized period of admission has expired." Otherwise stated, this means that someone from one of those countries who illegally overstayed their visa can now apply for an extension, or someone who arrived illegally can apply to get legal status.

Thomas Eric Duncan, the Liberian man who died from Ebola earlier this month, had traveled to the United States after his visa was approved in August, the same month that USCIS announced the new relief measures.

Here is a breakdown of what was happening with the Ebola crisis in August courtesy of Haaretz

August 2: A U.S. missionary physician infected with Ebola in Liberia is flown to Atlanta in the United States for treatment.

August 5: A second U.S. missionary infected with Ebola is flown from Liberia to Atlanta for treatment. Aug. 8: WHO declares Ebola "international public health emergency."

August 12: WHO says death toll has topped 1,000, approves use of unproven drugs or vaccines. A Spanish priest with Ebola dies in a Madrid hospital.

August 15: MSF says the epidemic will take about six months to control.

August 20: Security forces in Monrovia fire shots, tear gas to disperse crowd trying to break out of quarantine, killing a teenager.

August 21: The two U.S. missionary aid workers treated in Atlanta are released from the hospital free of the virus.

August 24: Democratic Republic of Congo declares Ebola outbreak, apparently separate from larger epidemic. An infected British medical worker is flown home from Sierra Leone for treatment.

August 28: WHO puts death toll at above 1,550, warns outbreak could infect more than 20,000. Aug. 29: Senegal reports first confirmed Ebola case.

The White House has refused to even put travel restrictions on the table as the crisis in West Africa continues. Considering the administration has been encouraging more travel, it's no wonder travel restrictions aren't being considered. CDC Director Tom Frieden said yesterday during testimony on Capitol Hill that his first interest is protecting Americans. If Frieden really meant what he said, the folks over at DHS don't have the same priority and clearly aren't on the same page.

These revelations prompt a whole new set of questions about how the Obama administration is handling this situation and leads one to question whether the government is really doing anything real to protect Americans from a deadly disease. At a time when officials knew Ebola was killing thousands in Africa, they invited more people potentially exposed to that disease, including Thomas Duncan, to come into the United States. At best, this is negligence.

Obama's priorities are clearly not to protect US citizens.

If the hospitalized asian nurse is unfortunate enough to die, I hope her survivors are able to personally sue Obama for murder.

Can't Somebody, somewhere, please stop this out-of-control usurper?

Just because American Liberals are addicted to their PC kool aid and have had their instinct for self preservation bred out of them... they think the rest of us are just as stupid!

Nobody but a natural born citizen shall be eligible for the office of President.

Now we know why....

Please call congress and tell them that we must be deadly serious about containing Ebola by strict quarantine within the United States and from infected nations. This is our right and our duty and it is THEIR duty to protect US.

Capitol switchboard is 202-224-3121 or Google your congressman or senator and get his contact information and call him / her office directly. You can also call or go to their local offices.

I believe decisive response is urgent because you can’t put this Ebola genie back in the bottle once it gets out. It is a fire, it consumes all the fuel it can get and the fuel is people. The only way to stop a fire is to block it from the fuel or cool it with water. A vaccine or medicine to treat Ebola would be the water and we don’t have reliable, enough or any.

Every possible measure must be taken to stop the spread before draconian measures are imposed. What is being done now is sloppy. We are walking a dangerous road. The threat is blossoming by the day if not hour. Almost every hour there is some new Ebola development and none of them are good. This is a serious and potentially deadly event. Unchecked it could destroy or weaken the United States and facilitate our destruction by others. It has that potential for every country and that is why so many are responding with such strict quarantines. These consequences, no matter how small the probabilities, demand a full effort and significant response.

Ebola is being spread here in the United States right now. First Texas, then Ohio then? Terror is an excellent weapon. It disrupts, confuses, paralyzes and destroys a society. Many others and we on FR have speculated that terrorists may spread Ebola. How do you that remember 9/11 feel right now compared to what you felt then? Do you want to gather your loved ones near you to protect them? I do. Even more than I did on September 11, 2001! Isn’t this passive response by this administration accomplishing the very same things a terrorist would want?
When something is being done that makes as little sense as what Obama is doing there has to be some other reason. I leave it to you dear reader to draw your own conclusions as to the reasons.
What is happening now is insane. It makes no sense at all. For example the head of CDC says: “Stopping travel from Africa won’t do any good because you have to get people into Africa to fight Ebola.” “You can’t get Ebola from an infected person on a bus but an infected person should never be on a bus because he can infect others.” “Blocking travel from infected countries would damage their fragile economies.” What about ours? What about our safety? What about resources we have paid for that should be protecting us?

Even the most despotic dictatorship in Africa has acted to protect his nation by strict quarantine and stopping travel from infected countries. Even CDC, the UN and WHO advocate and credit strict quarantine for nipping the spread of Ebola in the bud at the source in places like Senegal and Nigeria where both have had faster and more successful outbreak controls than we have had here. 35 countries have stopped travel of people from infected West African countries. It is so obvious even a child could understand it so why is it OK for people from infected countries to travel here?
I will post this message and keep posting it until someone stops me.

Well thank God we didn’t elect any of those evil purists. I’m sure those pragmatic Republicans that just confirmed their intent to pass Amnesty will get right on that whole stopping expedited visas thing.

No matter what.

Amen to that and even then there is risk.

Terrorism is perpetrated by terrorists. If you see the results of what someone does looking like terrorism what does that make the person who commits the act?

When the hell is Congress especially Democrats, going to wake up to the fact that we got the freakin enemy in the nations highest office? How many million more examples do they need? How many more mountains of evidence? Democraps in all their brilliance pushed and got elected an America hating radical Muslim. Maybe I’m imagining things here but Congress DOES live in the USA as well right?

Well, they do commit all the acts of terrorism. I figure the shoe fits them just fine. Terrorists and muslims have a lot in common with Liberals and their enablers.

Terrorist/Libs go out and do the acts and the regular muzzies/lib enablers sith there and empower them to do so. They both kill, they threaten, they use threats as a political weapon, they hold no value on life, promote pedobear BS, love depopulation through any means available to them...

They are fully awake to it considering both parties have done everything to fund, empower and cover for him every step of the way. When are people going to wake up to that?

“At best, this is negligence.”

Criminal negligence? No, it’s much more than that.

I watched that Evan Sayet (SP?) vid the other day on libs...great video BTW, but he is wrong. Liberals are evil. Evil to the core. And so are their enablers.

The people in 1930s Germany that brought on Hitler and todays Libs with Obama are no different. All fully responsible for the evil of their ‘god’. The only difference between the two unfolds as we speak. Soon Todays libs will top Adolf’s body count with ebola.
