You honestly think that legislating bi-lingual speech in a save your life moment makes even a bit of sense?

Please tell me I missed some sarcasm?

I’m honestly of the opinion that the left would be calling Trayvon a victim of racism and profiling if he’d broken into Zimmerman’s home and beat him while he was asleep in bed. In situations like that, all they care about is race.

"I doubt if any state or city had a written "duty to retreat" law"

Most states have their self-defense provisions written out in statutes.

Sorry, I should have added a sarcasm warning.

And yes, most states have extensive statutes on self-defense. Most sound like good, common sense on paper. It's the "settled law", unwritten rules that would never be set down on paper, that put a lot of innocent people in jail, and allowed for selective prosecution.

Retreat, even from one's home, may be the best tactical approach in some situations. It should be up to the defender to make that a real-time decision. Not some judge or prosecutor who says, "the law requires you to back up until you're jammed into a spot so small that you can't move back another step. Then you may consider your defensive options".
