Ten Commandments Attack Suspect Being Evaluated OKLAHOMA CITY — Oct 25, 2014 A man suspected of driving a car into a Ten Commandments monument outside the Oklahoma state Capitol is under mental evaluation, according to the Highway Patrol.

"Investigators will continue to look into the case and coordinate with the Oklahoma County District Attorney on Monday, for any possible criminal charges," according to a news release from OHP Capt. George Brown.

Brown did not immediately return a phone call for additional comment on Saturday.

The suspect was taken to a mental facility in Oklahoma County, Brown said in the release.

The U.S. Secret Service said the suspect was detained Friday after showing up at a federal building in Oklahoma City, rambling, making derogatory statements about President Barack Obama, admitting to damaging the monument and saying Satan told him to do so.

"He claimed he got out of his car, urinated on the monument, and then ran over it and destroyed it," said Secret Service agent David Allison in Oklahoma City. "He said Satan told him to do it, and that he was a Satanist."

Communion... its purpose is to remind us of what Christ did for us. He suffered great agony, beyond anything that we can comprehend, for the New Covenant which means that the Old Covenant (the Mosaic Law) is no longer required.

The enemy of man does not like Oklahoma City.

May or may not have anything to do with anything, but where did the Trail of Tears end?

Any comments on who he voted for? Not reported on, if he said so, I am sure.

"If he urinated on a Koran,"

Though I had saved a link to Koran toilet paper.

Demon possessed or been playing with his pajama cord too long? Give him a lobotomy and send him back to San Francisco where he belongs.

In a civilized country he’d be wetting himself while the blindfold and cigarette were given to him and the squad lined up.

Really? Because that sounds very much like something they'd do in Iran or Saudi Arabia. Whereas I remember reading somewhere (I forget where) that Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image. Which I presume includes a monument to the decalogue.

I think the monument was testament of the stone tablet given Moses by G_D, not a graven image to be worshipped, but to be G_D’s commandments to the Jewish people and honors the Judeo-Christian principles this country was founded on.

Whether the nut wanted to make a religious, political, or both kind of statement is unclear.

I see the point you raise, but tough-love is a Christian tool too. Sometimes a person has to find himself face down in the gutter before realizing that kind of hell is not a good place to spend eternity. Perpetually intervening so that level is never reached can turn a Christian into an "enabler".

“Enabler” is actually modern psycho talk... remember a supreme God can’t be foiled. There are distinct biblical boundaries to how far one can go; that doesn’t mean one should NOT go, or that modern Christian practice isn’t generally anemic in this regard.

This wikipedia map shows several Trails of Tears ending pretty far from OKC in eastern OK. But after the forced march, the various tribes would have been moved into their allotted territories, which included modern OKC.

But I think the current troubles have more to do with Oklahoma being a very Christian area now.

Seriously? For pissing on and destroying some stonework?

Considering how harshly we treated our American soldieers for supposedly urinating on a koran (bacon be upon it), it would seem only just that this piece of dog meat be treated in like fashion.

Graven images would include a printed book, not just a printed monument. Is the Bible a graven image? The problem with taking all things literal is that sooner or later you step in your literal.

That's a lot of pain, misery, suffering, heavily seasoned with anger for what was done and for what was lost, all shipped and concentrated into one area. (Demonrats just doing what demonrats do throughout our history)

With that perspective in mind, I can't say I'm surprised if evil stands up there from time to time with a shout out to the faithless and a slap for the faithful, as with the Murrah bombing in OKC.

Our nation is distancing itself from "In God We Trust" as fast as it can, which most likely lifts the protection and Grace we've enjoyed.

This is troubling. Should all this nation's sins be remembered and an accounting be required, we're in for a rough time.

It wasnt just stone. But he was attacking the people who put it up and all who support it. Not saying he should be shot.

Why would a graven image include a book or a note written to someone ?

The bible doesnt condemn communication or teaching.

It wasnt just stone. But he was attacking the people who put it up and all who support it. Not saying he should be shot.

It was stone that had been inscribed with ideals - the ideals exist regardless of the physical stone. The commandments are ideals that God gave the stiff necked, recalcitrant folks of the time to show them that they could not follow them - increasing sin in the world by making a lot of things sinful. Jesus gave us other ideals by paying for our sins (that we insisted on having). Funny how we get so worked up over others' failings/ignorance/sinfulness when we have so much to work with within ourselves. We get diverted and distracted by such little things that we ignore the whole of God's Plan and His infallibility. We try to construct that which He will provide and fear that He will not prevail (or get tired of waiting on and trusting in Him).

You can burn all the churches and destroy all the art/relics and He will still be God - unchangeable, humble, loving, and powerful. He doesn't need our protection, yet we try so hard to supplant Him as the true rear guard. He is our rear guard and will protect and help us if we only carry His Word and the Good News of the Gospels; yet we let every human failing in the world deter us from the only good we can do. When Jesus told us not to resist an evil man, He gave us good advice - tend to our own selves and souls, take care of our own families, and He will provide in the end --- for Eternity.
