I totally agree. I am just shocked at this point at how much back pedaling the so called experts are at. If I backpedaled in my job as an electrician, I would be ruined in my business and job prospects. It’s disturbing.
But you don't have the right to play roulette with other peoples lives.
Since, of late, the "Supreme Courts" have invented all sorts of "rights" out of thin air, it should not be surprising that they might invent the "right" to put millions of lives at risk because really ignorant and stupid individuals decide to "go out and get soup and sandwiches," or "continue making prepartions for a wedding."
I certainly would insist on knowing where those presumably professional individuals end up working in the medical field. Seriously to avoid them.
Limiting it just to Ebola is probably the silly thing, there’s far more disease brought up by those coming over the Mexico border that will kill more Americans. But addressing one disease that can, if it takes root in an urban area of the United States, is better than nothing.
I’m pretty sure no court will strip away all abilities to quarantine, and there’s certainly enough evidence from the nurse’s statements to justify quarantine due to immediate threat to others.
If it were just the Ebola, then public health would be best served by quarantining and taking care of her, even if on the public dime. That may piss some off, but I’m ok with the idea of picking up the tab to incentivize folks to be honest, play nice, and not cheat here.
Now the second you get someone suing or flouting the rules when we trusted them to behave nicely? Sorry, ruin them. Time for them to cover every single dime. Lost their job, every single possession? Tough titties.
Until we harshly penalize risking others, there will be fools who want to bowl or eat soup.
I wonder how that bowling alley is doing financially? Is business down?
So I'm pretty sure she actually knew about it before they landed. And did the pilot make an announcement? And if she's so connected to CDC, they didn't inform her?
Pure Politics!!
Health, Safety and Welfare has ALWAYS been the rule of law.
I think I read that she said that she intended to self quarantine when she got home. Kinda kills any law case that she might have....since we know that people cheat like hell...
Ruined most likely, which is WHY I’m saying start making examples of the ppl.
