Seven Reasons You Will Vote Republican This Year
Townhall.com ^ | October 27, 2014 | Mark Baisley

One week to go for the imminent decision on the new course that Americans will take their country. And there really are only two options nationally; the beginnings of recovery for a badly bruised intellect – or – unbridled bat guano crazy.

While the sparkle has come off Barack Obama’s crown, voters no longer have the opportunity to vote him off the throne. But next week, citizens will decide whether to checkmate the President by giving the Republicans a majority in the United States Senate. Here are seven reasons that America will vote Republican this year:

1. National Defense – This primary responsibility of the federal government has been effectively mismanaged for a good six years now. The world has always had an abundance of narcissistic jerks bent on world domination. But between 1783 and 2008, they operated more like delusional street-crazies. Their lusts were tethered by the knowledge that if they acted on their impulses, the United States military would shock them back to bearable behavior. But evil villains are evidently not intimidated by our current Sissy In Chief. The President will need the added pressure of Republican control in both houses of Congress to support his international spine.

2. Health care –Now that the Democrats have invited government bureaucrats into every one of our body cavities, it is time for the citizens to respond as if they still have some measure of self-esteem. Ideally, Obamacare will be uprooted and replaced with free-market systems in 2017. But while the President has two years left to complete his vision of socialized medicine, it is critical that both chambers of Congress are controlled by the loyal opposition.

3. National debt of $17,000,000,000,000 – Only a conservative-controlled Congress will bother to develop a plan to recover from the current 17 trillion dollar debt. And only a balanced budget constitutional amendment would deliver the nation from its current path of self-destruction. With the possibility of a Republican president and Republican controlled congress just two years away, we cannot afford to miss the rare opportunity to entertain a balanced budget amendment.

4. Energy – Controlling Washington’s ridiculous spending spree is only one half of the solution necessary to recover from America’s enormous debt. Paying down all those zeros will require an economic explosion akin to the dot-com era. Fortunately, the nation is sitting on natural resources that can provide exactly that. And displacing the religious environmentalist Democrats with pragmatic business Republicans will release America’s natural entrepreneurial spirit to pull energy out of the ground and sell it to the rest of the world for a tidy profit.

5. Supreme Court Justice Nominees – We are extremely fortunate to have made it this far with only two Supreme Court Justices having been appointed by the radical President Obama. The ages of the remaining justices dictate that more replacements are imminent. In the unfortunate circumstance where Barack Obama would nominate one or more additional justices, a Republican Senate would be able to non-consent another Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

6. Illegal Immigration – By now, it should only be a mystery to the New York Times that the Democratic Party has been flooding the U.S. with illegal immigrants toward increasing their voter base. Even Republican senators will need reminding from their base to behave according to the party platform on this topic. But a conservative majority in the Senate could help get the nation back to inviting only those who will contribute to the American dream rather than overwhelm our culture with conflicting interests.

7. Epic Lame Duck Syndrome – Elected officials who have no fear of voter reprisal in the final phase of their term will sometimes take actions that would otherwise ruin their chances of re-election. The last significant example of this is Bill Clinton’s impressive list of pardons and commutations for an unsavory group of thieves, tax cheats and drug traffickers. But the Obama Administration reportedly has plans to go non compos mentis as he golfs his way to the finish line. With unprecedented arrogance and a demonstrated disregard for the Constitution, only a Republican majority in both the House and the Senate will be able to withstand the behavior that promises to fly out of the West Wing between now and noon on January 20, 2017.

I do not see the Republicans doing anything on 1 or 2, certainly not 3, or 4, 6, or 7. So reason 5 is the one that might be a valid reason.

The GOP do seem to be in a hurry to preemptively surrender (again) and fully fund the Obama agenda in the lame duck.

That being the case, a vote for the GOP next tuesday is a vote to fully fund the Obama agenda. Obamacare, IRS, etc. All of it. Does Obama really need Reid if this is his “opposition” party.

But, compared with the Democrat gang of thieves that we have now, we will improve our position on each of these points.

Oh really? The Republicans have done nothing to fight the sequester, so number 1 is out. They have no alternative for Obamacare so they aren't going to take that on; scratch number 2. The GOP is just as adicted to deficits as the Democrats are so number 3 is fantasy. Number 4 is just as much of a pipe dream, except maybe the Keystone pipeline will get approved. But since that oil is destined for export I'm not sure how that makes us more energy independent. Number 6 is iffy because the GOPe is already talking immigration reform. And number 7 there is nothing the Congress can do about anyway.

Unfortunately, I doubt that we will do this as many comments on this thread illustrate. By insisting that we can only score with the long ball thrown by some magical quarterback to an equally magical receiver, we are ignoring a tried and true ground game of ball control and short plays down the field. That magical guy got traded to Denver and his receiver got arrested.

Winning, either through the air on on the ground, you need a game plan. And the GOP leadership flat does not have one.

I’m starting to get a bad feeling about the midterms. First, they are the midterms, turnout tends to be low. The MSM has had some condescending (IMO) stories lately about the Republicans maybe pulling it off. Could just be a ploy to suppress turnout. Add that to the voter fraud they have gotten so good at and I just have a bad feeling Harry Reid will still be around. I really hope I am wrong.

Their game-plan is to shout about how terrible Obama and the Democrats are, screaming at their base that the other guy's worse and perhaps lucking into enough votes to win.

I seriously have zero reason to vote for the GOP — they have done nothing, even on shoe-in winning propositions (like disbanding the NSA and eviscerating the domestic spying apparatus), so why should I expect them to start if they gain a little more power?

Take away even that which they have.

Given that the Republicans have rolled over for the Democrats on everything, what would be the change in things if they gained the Senate?

that is a foolish thought

Dingy Harry has destroyed the Senate.

There will never be a senate composed of Jesus Christ pure conservatives. It will be what it is, what America votes it to be

I'm not asking for a Senate of Jesus Christ pure conservatives, I'm asking what will change?

Since you brought up Jesus, there is a parable that is extremely relevant:

(Matt 25:14-20)
The Parable of the Talents
“For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money.

Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here I have made five talents more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here I have made two talents more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here you have what is yours.’ But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
We gave the Republican party the House of Representatives, and before that the Presidency (and during that Presidency, both Houses). What has improved in the stated Republican party planks? What have they done to forward those goals? — They have refused to work for the goals they claimed and now are being called on it — in short, why should I vote for people who do nothing to further my goals?

But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.

They won’t. Seems the GOPe fan club M.O. now is to pretend they will to get the rubes on the GOP plantation to the polls next week. That is just going to make the base even more disillusioned when the GOP play surrender monkey for another two years.

It’s clear now the GOP have no intention of substantively opposing Obama. They are punting to 2016. All this talk of funding the obama agenda in the lame duck is insane. If they really cared about defunding obamacare they would be going through it line by line before they cut a check for it. They will do nothing the sort.

Seven Reasons You Will Vote Republican This Year

Number eight: Because, thank goodness, this year we have pretty good candidates in my area that outstrip anything the dems put up by a mile. I will not have to hold my nose this year. Crinkle it a bit at one but not hold it. :)

Who said anything, anything at all about staying home?
If you read my post you'd see that it is the assertion that the Republican Party has not earned my vote or, I suspect, yours.

Can you point out five points where they've worked, actually put real effort, into furthering their stated platform planks in the past five years?

And how would putting Republicans in power do anything to stop that when they've showed that they'll roll over for them on everything?
IOW, what is the difference between putting the commie rats in full power and putting in Republicans who will simply aid and abet them in their goals?

What has the Republican Party done on:

  1. The IRS corruption?
  2. The NSA's hugely unpopular domestic espionage?
  3. The rampant debt accumulation?
  4. The unaccountability of government agents?
  5. Fast & Furious, which is probably the easiest Treason case to come along in 60 years?
  6. The invasion from the south?
  7. Reducing regulatory burdens?
  8. Reducing tax burdens?
  9. Repealing or defunding ObamaCare?
You call me an idiot, but my question really boils down to this: why should I vote for a party that so demonstrably cares nothing for what I value?

I share your frustration. I despise both major parties and see only a tiny handful of Republican candidates that are decent conservatives.

“Punishing” the RINOs by not voting for them is punishing ourselves and our children. I held my nose in 2008 and voted for McCain (and enthusiastically for Palin). I’m pretty sure he would have been horrible as President, but not as horrible as what we’ve got.

I would rather vote for a bad conservative than for any liberal. At least there is a chance of slowing our rush to self-destruction. Also, I have observed how the liberal strategy of incremental change works. We need to do that, too. They don’t always get everything they want right away, but they keep pushing, pushing, pushing until they do. We need to do the same. We can’t always get the true conservatives and conservative policies we want but we need to push in the right direction and keep pushing until we get there.

JMO. I am sympathetic to those who disagree because my anger is on your side, but my intellect says vote R even if it’s a RINO.

Oh give it rest. You elite/establishment types make me sick. You send out your propped up RINOs to destroy all conservatives. Your socialists with (r) next to their name decide running against the (d) is too hard so they go on vacation and don’t bother to run. Then you come back and blame us because your candidate is too lazy and stupid to win.

You e/e’s must love Charlie Crist. He was one of you. A great big flaming lib with an (r) next to his name. He is the same now as he was when he first ran for governor down here in Florida. You think we should be voting for him too? Oh wait! His (r) is gone so we don’t have to. Guess what! I told people right here when he first ran what he was, what he was going to do. Just like you, they told me to shut up and vote for the (r). I didn’t listen then so I’m not going to pay any attention to you now.

Charlie Crist has never gotten my vote. He’s a lib always has been, and always will be. Only now he’s showing some of his real self out in the open. He hasn’t come all the way out of the closet yet. But your only problem with him is that he doesn’t have an (r) next to his name.

He will never get my vote. Neither will any of the other RINO, pretend conservatives that populate the (r) party. That includes gay time Charlie’s traitorous rival with an (r) after his name, Sen. Marco Rubio.
