A gun is a thing, a tool. It is not inherently “good” or “bad.”

Anything in good working condition, like the suicide guns, I’d take a look at. The “accident” guns I might steer away from.

A list of the firearms up for auction can be found here:

A couple are interesting and might be collectables.

Very few true “accidents”, lots of negligence. See also the recent reports of a former major league baseball player shooting his thumb off while “cleaning” a gun. The first step in cleaning a gun is to ensure it’s unloaded. Neglect that step/rule = “accident”

After Dahmer was convicted, they were auctioning off his stuff, and the families of his victims had a problem with the cooking utensils being sold [to entrepreneurs wanting them for a cannibal museum].

Ed Gein's cabin was torched the day before it was to be auctioned off. "Just as well" said Gein, when informed.

Don't these weapons belong to the departed’s estate?

My thought too, but apparently not. From the article:

Family members had a year to get them back before they became county property.

And technically I suppose they are crime evidence. I think, though, that there might be an understandable reluctance to claim that property.

I don’t see anything interesting or collectible in that list.

Maybe the Colt Ace .22, but meh.

People who are contemplating suicide should really choose nicer weapons...
