Meet your new bosses: ISIS is looking to recruit a skilled manager to run its faltering illegal oil business
ISIS is on the lookout for a skilled professional to manage its failing oil refineries and has been using black-market agents to advertise the £140,000-a-year post.
The terror group is said to have captured at least 11 oil fields in Iraq and Syria during its offensive campaign and was thought to be making around £2million-a-day from sales in June.
But a string of fatal accidents and a lack of ideological commitment from trained engineers has seen its profits slump by more than two thirds.
Up to now jihadists have run their newly-acquired business through intimidation - threatening to kill employees' families if they fail to comply.
But their murderous approach to those not loyal to the ISIS cause has seen them hemorrhage trained engineers, The Times reports.

The refineries manager position is the most senior of several vacancies that the terror group is hoping to fill.

And who is buying from the black-market traders?
Kinda hard to hide all that oil, it’s gotta be going somewhere, who needs to buy on the black market?

And don’t forget, bombing those refineries is a “pinprick”. /s
The way I read it is, the black market smuggling has been going on for a long time. Dictators like Assad and Saddam Hussein probably liked keeping some of the oil production off the books, in order to get around OPEC, to have a slush fund, to pay off cronies, etc. It's not like the oil was being audited by PriceWaterhouse!
And on the Turkey connection, there's also corruption and a desire not to have a true set of books regarding oil. I'm sure they have a lot of ways to falsify where the oil is coming from, and a lot of gov't officials getting paid off.
So this black market stuff has been going on a long time and has developed an infrastructure and camouflage. The change with ISIS being involved is, ALL the oil now has to go through the black market channel, so there may be an increase in the illicit volume, but since total oil production is way down in the ISIS areas, that may not be a big change.
It looks to me like it would be tough to find out who's trading and buying the oil.
I’ll be sure to bring along some extra prayer beads. Maybe a few claymores too.
reminds me of the admiral who was working for Darth Vader.
ISIS is not the unstoppable force they pretend to be. If they were, they would have taken Kobani (sp?) by now. Instead, they are sytmied by a smaller force. The Kurds are the only sane people there. As for the rest of them, I think we should let them kill each other as long as they want.
