Why GOP won: Shifting white votes hurt Democrats

WASHINGTON — White voters of all ages were less likely to back Democrats this year than in elections past, helping Republicans nationwide but most acutely in the South — and overpowering Democratic efforts to turn out their core supporters among blacks and Hispanics.

In a nation growing ever more diverse, political forecasters repeatedly warn Republicans they must improve their appeal among minorities in order to remain competitive in the long term.

Repeatedly identifying non-racist, decent, and honorable white people as racist over, and over, and over again just might make them turn against the politician making that absurd accusation.

On one hand, you got people who know how to run stuff and have a record of success.

On the other hand, you have people who can only campaign on lady parts.

I don't know, it seems to be a tough decision.

It will be very hard for a white Democrat to replicate what Obama did simply because blacks are racist voters - they voted for Obama in exceptionally high numbers out of racial solidarity. That’s why he was able to win the White House twice with a minority of the white vote.

Black turnout won’t be as high in 2016 and Hillary - or any other white Democrat has to face the fact if black turnout is going to decline and the Democratic share of the white vote remains the same - that Democrat is going to lose a national election. And if the Democrats don’t address their white male problem, they’ll be looking back nostalgically on the Obama decade.

Democrats play identity politics. Romney won the white vote 59% to 39%. He lost the black vote (96%), Asian (73%), and the Hispanic vote (71%). I guess it is alright for these minority groups to vote along racial and ethnic lines to a greater extent than whites.

The Dems are creating a white identity, which will hurt them--at least in the short term. The Dems have been losing the white vote for some time. White women voted 56% to 42% for Romney. There is no real gender gap among whites.

The Democrats can no longer win with a coalition of women and minorities. They risk becoming irrelevant.

Romney won the white women vote 56% to 42%. Race and ethnicity play a greater role in how women vote than gender.

Checked out authors of this smear and not surprising, both minority racists.

Went to find other articles written by them, again, not surprising, most other articles on Obama were slavish babble, on Republicans more trash talk.

I've stated my suspicion on a few threads:

Part of it is a "Ferguson Effect". Normal, law-abiding people have had it with the pandering and the permitted destruction of a community.

That could explain some very liberal states choosing conservatives on the state level.

Your propositions are unfortunately unrealistic.

The Republicans are resigned to the inevitability of the unfortunate fact that illegal aliens are here to stay, and they will court their vote, regardless of the fact that their votes will always go towards the “party of handouts”.

My belief is not delusional, but my belief is rooted in an observation of reality.

It IS inevitable, and you can chalk that up to human nature. It sucks, but it is what it is.

There is a way to reverse that inevitable trend, but the overwhelming majority of patriots in this country are too comfortable, happy and unwilling to sacrifice in order to set thing right, so, barring a miraculous shift in demographics and human nature, the endgame cannot be avoided.

History along with a rational analysis of human nature insists that this country continue its depressing and declining slide towards oblivion.

Please point out a realistic path back towards prosperity and long term stability. I would like to believe.

Marital status plays a role in how females vote.

Single women tend to vote Democratic. Married women and women with families tend to vote Republican.

The kind of women Democrats pander are those who feel insecure about being alone or/and want the anxieties of being with a man relieved - like free access to abortion.

For minority voters, there is affirmative action and handouts.
White men are left out in the cold.

White women vote overwhelmingly Rep. Romney received 56% of the white women vote.

Nationally, Republicans running for seats in the U.S. House won 60 percent of the white vote, while Democrats won the backing of 89 percent of African-Americans and 62 percent of Hispanics.

"But now very few Democrats could think about getting 40 percent of the white vote. They're trying to get 30 percent. In the Deep South states, from South Carolina to Louisiana, it's very hard for the Democratic candidate to get 25 percent of the white vote."

In North Carolina, though incumbent Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan was widely credited with running a solid campaign, she carried just 33 percent of the white vote — down from 39 percent in 2008 — and lost. White voters under age 30 backed Hagan by close to a 2-to-1 margin six years ago as they helped to sweep President Barack Obama into office. This time, in a midterm election, the younger white voters who cast ballots in North Carolina broke just as decisively for Hagan's Republican opponent, state House Speaker Thom Tillis.

It’s the Ferguson effect and more. The last six years have been nothing but catastrophic under bambam. The economy sucks except for a few niche sectors, white house scandal after scandal, fake cries of racism daily, crime ridden streets, weirdos and freaks shoved in our faces, and all the while bam and mooch partay like billionaires, while importing ebola and talking it down. There’s a point where people, regardless of color, or ethnic makeup, just wake up and say enough is enough.

The Republicans aren’t going to do a damn thing but the Hard Right is now well represented in Congress.

History says Democracy always commit suicide.

There will be a restoration of the Republic, it usually happens via Provisional Military Government and a brief Dictatorship.

History ALWAYS repeays itself.

"It isn’t - not anymore. The truth of the matter is the Democratic Party is perceived to be a party uninterested in white men and could care less about them".

Exactly.

I couldn't care less whether a rich "white guy" is running for office.

If he's a liberal, I know for a fact that he has absolutely NOTHING to offer me.

In fact, I know that he'll support policies that will hurt me and my family directly.

Conservatives who could potentially steer this country back towards prosperity are still heavily outnumbered in the government at this time. While the current situation has brightened somewhat this week, it remains to be seen if this trend will continue for the better.

I sincerely doubt it will get better, but I will do whatever I can to help that trend continue, regardless of my belief that this is a brief pause in the inevitable decline of our society.

“(Blacks are 90%+ for dems, Hispanics 57%+ roughly for dems)”

Blacks were not for the dems this time... Had they been, they would have voted. You can’t blame them, their condition got much worse in the last six years. They are catching on.
