Civil rights advocate Jesse Jackson brought his campaign for more diversity in Silicon Valley workforces to The Chronicle Editorial Board Wednesday, noting that the racial separation of 50 years ago wasn’t as great as the inequality today.

50 years ago Blacks had strong family units, worked for a living, taught their kids respect for the law, and made good homes and lives for their families despite the racism and segregation of their times.
Now far too many point to that time as an excuse to do nothing for themselves or their families and choose to live on the Gubbmint Plantation and suckle the Gubbmint teat.
The poverty/race pimps found a new target, I see.
Perhaps this will make the silicon valley people less stupid about politics.
There is open opportunity for business in Silicon Valley or anywhere else Jesse for those with the desire, drive or qualifications to compete in the private sector market.
IF you seek some force to be out on the private market by government or wishing government to make racial preferences then you are just an old desperate racist seeking welfare and a camera to stand in front of. The worst of that would be the product of someone less qualified would be probably quite defective and no one would need it anyway.
First, discover that a majority of them believe if they drive two miles outside the limits of a larger California city they will be immediately beaten up by white rednecks.
Then ask them who taught them that.
Behind the wildly embellished anecdotes you will hear in reply you will inevitably find some scrawny, rat-like, progressive "activist" or another.
If the California GOP would rather sip chardonnay at private fundraisers in the Santa Ynez valley than take responsibility for the active management of their own public images, someone else is certain to do it for them.

I bet their is also a West African and West Indian privilege. Those students probably have no problem getting jobs in Silicon Valley.
If such a person is (properly) compartmentalized, the hire will probably sense it. Ultimately, neither the project nor the hire is helped, outside a fat paycheck. If the hire makes unhappy noises, morale and productivity only get worse. Just like the adage "buy a woman you hate a house," to skip the whole divorce brouhaha, just give an undeserving minority a fat paycheck and leave advanced projects and their hard workers alone, if you think of kick-starting an unqualified minority's career by dropping him or her into a fast-paced high-tech environment.
Oh, but the goal is to have such a person become an executive in your company, running things in a high-tech division? Sepuku is faster, with the same result.

Jesse doesn't want actual jobs for blacks.
He wants to extort money (and a lot of it) to be handed over to his "Rainbow PUSH Coalition" for them to spend on bogus jobs programs, racial sensitivity seminars, etc.
Pity that all of Jesse’s people call the sort of behavior that LEADS to a Silicon Valley tech job, “acting white”. . .
Hey Jesse, you old shakedown has been, Silicon Valley is a very level playing field. To the best and brightest belong the spoils. Study, work hard, persist, achieve. It’s really very simple, and even Jesse Jackson can figure it out.
The market is an open one for those preparing themselves to meet an opportunity; and frankly, Jackson doesn’t represent anyone but himself these days.
