If the teacher is receptive of questioning, you might have your daughter ask the teacher about how the implementation of Obama Care is forcing religious groups like Little Sisters of the Poor to go against their religious beliefs.

If this is World History, why is the teacher leading with what is, at best, current US events? What is the scope of this course, most such courses end at 25-50 years in the past. A teacher injecting personal viewpoints beyond the scope of the course would appear to be wasting classroom instruction time.

They also don't mention that people on disability pay doubled under Obama after their two years of unemployment and then the participation rate for workers is at a 36 year low.

Basically no one wants to mention that after a year, you are not counted in the statistics anymore. So if you have 30% of America go unemployed, two years later they don't count and a President using this math can claim a great employment recovery with even 30% unemployment.
Must be common core!

Wow guess that’s what I did wrong when my daughter was in school. Lol. I told most of them they were morons and when they would start touting their education to me (which never failed) I’d tell them how much BS their education was compared to mine. They’d shut up pretty fast. Rofl

“When the interviewer put it to him that various economic indicators such as jobs numbers in the US were positive recently he countered that these statistics” are published by the Obama administration, and therefore I would be very careful to take every figure for granted.”

He pointed to first-time home-buyers in the US, the number of which are at thirty year lows.

“A lot of people are being squeezed very badly because the costs of living are rising more than their salaries and wages.” The low home-buying figures show that people simply cannot afford to buy houses anymore demonstrating that no amount of cherry-picked statistics can gloss over the fact the US economy is not in good shape”.

The above is taken from the article on gold two post below yours on FR

Have her raise hell with the teacher and screw the grade. People need to stand up to this commie indoctrination where ever you or they find it. If I heard that crap from my kid that school would know about within 30 minutes.25 minutes would be for me to cool down. Onward Christian soldier.

Have her record the teacher, then send it to those exposure websites that will humiliate the teacher

Most lib teachers are thin skinned and don't take well to challenges from students. Some will state that they appreciate classroom debate, but in reality they love to have their view points regurgitate back to them in home work assignments and test essays. They will also favor students who agree with them.

A family member has a super liberal teacher in law school whose view point he did not share. He took it upon himself to track down this teacher's published articles. From that point forward, on every paper and test, he always parroted the teacher's opinion. For his efforts he got a A. He considered it an intellectual exercise in writing an opposing viewpoint that he did not share.

Since your daughter seems to be an intelligent girl who listens to you, I would ignore what the teacher says and not get involved in writing letters to the administration that might be even more liberal than the teacher, so you don't put a target on your daughter's back. Unless the teacher becomes outright insulting to the conservative viewpoint, just review each day's class with her and keep her on the straight and narrow.

If the teacher thinks the economy has greatly improved, she’s beyond help.

If the teacher cannot understand last week as history, the numbers of the last few years do not indicate that the economy has, in fact, not improved, the teacher seems incapable of grasping the events of world history, period.

I must ask, as much as I hate to, is the teacher a member of an official 'minority', because should that be the case, any concerns expressed about the teacher will likely be branded with a work ending in -ist.

Utmost care must be taken to parse any complaint in such a fashion that any allegations of _____-ist bias on the part of student or parent will be deflected.

Otherwise, do what I did in public school (yes, even then)--give 'em what they want to hear for the grade, and know the truth. (Game them.)

“I’m really too upset to ignore this, so I will write an email.”

Go for the meeting. An email is way too easy to ignore. A meeting means you really mean business, and it’s a lot harder to file it under “just another obnoxious parent”.

OK.

1. Check the syllabus against the textbook.
2. Check the homework and quizzes against the syllabus.
3. Suggest posing questions that require viewing alternate viewpoints without having the questions be argumentative.
4. Sit in on a class, if possible. Speak to teacher.
5. Meet with principal and priest.
6. Meet with diocese.
7. Remove child or get another teacher or arrange for individual studies.
8. Drop class and go to summer school.
9. Homeschool.
10. Hire a lawyer and sue.

If at all possible, gather evidence, as though you are both in enemy territory. Memorize sentences, memorize test questions vis a vis state-administered tests, and keep records.

What’s being studied right now and out of what textbook. We all may be able to beat them at their own game.

First, it’s always nice to remind a teacher that current events is not history. Since that’s a history class, it has a bit of merit. The teacher will give you lip about current events becoming history, etc., etc. However, it’s always good to point out that the purpose of the class is the past and not some teacher’s opinions about the present.

Next, there is more data showing the economy has not improved than it has. A lower percentage of people working than in the last 50 years. Annual earnings for families down. Stock market up for the very rich but not for average folk.

Finally, ObamaCare again taken up by the Supreme Court. Premiums rising a predicted 13% this year, as are co-pays and deductibles. People cannot have their own doctor and own hospital. Many are paying for unneeded services. Employers will be forced by cost to cancel policies or cancel employees when the employer mandate hits this year.

So, Obama is at a below par presidential level. He’s ranked with the worst of presidents.

Sounds like the teacher has hijacked the history class into a current events class, with a strong Democratic bias. Although this is a Catholic high school, you can bet that the teacher has made no mention of Obama’s radical pro-abortion stance or his efforts to bully Catholic religious groups into subsidizing abortion and birth control against their will.

One other thing I’d do (because I really hate teachers who do that) is get a couple of minutes with the priest....”Father, I’m facing a moral issue. I believe my kid is being taught contrary to Church teaching...”

I agree with your comments, but I’m not sure you meant to say “not improved”. I don’t think they prove the economy has improved. It’s crawling along almost neutral.

spill several hundred blue or green sheets on the school parking lot offering a $100 reward for an audio and $300 for a video recording of the teacher politicizing the class room

alternate: make the offer on face book or twitter
