Oh, o.k. Thanks. With the network competition the way it is, it’s hard to imagine one network even mentioning something that will be aired on another network.
Thanks again.
So what? He’s an intelligent man with views that are interesting to hear.
Maybe a good cabinet position with Pres. Cruz?
All the more reason to get him the nom, isn't it?
I'd love to see the GOP-E be the ones put into the position of either choosing to sit out or of holding their noses and voting for the "lesser of two evils."
So an unknown with zero name recognition like “Fallin” is better than a brilliant brain surgeon with all kinds of name recogniton—just for starters..? Is that how it is?
Sorry, you’ve about got me on the Fallin bandwagon now.
I see her name has been raised by at least some pundits: Dana Perino — who, under George W. Bush, served as the first female White House press secretary to a Republican president — predicted that Democrats would try to make an issue of the absence of a Republican woman in the presidential mix.
“But Perino also singled out Martinez, Haley and Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin as leaders who have the potential to reach the national stage.”
Nobody could fairly doubt her credentials and she has never lost an election.
But at the same time we have to respect the process. The process is to get behind a single candidate and fund him support him/her to the point where no one else will dare get into the fray.
This. What conservatives and liberty lovers need to do is have our own de facto primary that ends about three months before the actual primary season starts (or whenever the cut off date for getting onto primary ballots is). We need to decide we are going to rally behind ONE candidate who is mutually acceptable to the vast majority of us.
And then we need to push him/her through the primaries.
What we do NOT need to do is like we did in 2012 where we floated from one vanity candidate to the next because they happened to say something we liked on a weekend talk show. Not only does this make us look (and really BE) unstable, but it also essentially nullifies our weight in the primary system.
What we ALSO don't need to do is have half of us sitting out throwing little temper tantrums because "your" guy didn't get chosen as the conservative consensus candidate. Grow up, people. Suck it up. Put on your big boy pants.
If he is on the Oklahoma Primary ballot in 2016, I will vote for him.
Well, for starters, there's the fact that Fallin (and I am not "rallying behind" her here, just pointing out some fairly obvious facts) has executive experience, while Carson does not.
There's also the fact that being a "brilliant brain surgeon" doesn't necessarily qualify someone for higher political office. That whole thing about competency in one area not necessarily carrying over to different areas, and all that.
There's also the fact that Fallin seems, from what I have seen, to be pretty genuinely conservative. Carson, on the other hand, raises serious questions for me with respect to his positions on 2nd amendment and immigration issues.
Sure - if you want the GOP candidate to be Jeb Bush or someone.
Seriously, what is it about math that eludes you folks?
There is a big difference between a black candidate who has a teleprompter implanted squarely up his but and one who needs no notes can say exactly what needs to be said right off the cuff and is light years ahead of the left.Carson is brilliant, does he always make the most conservative statements that would please all FRians? No! But, he’s as good as you can get.
Carson would be one hell of a VP candidate.About as good as you can get.
Excellent post. Thank you.
Exactly great post!!
-—many conservatives——
I have come to believe that is the issue. I would argue that those that consider themselves conservatives do not espouse the radical extremes we see here. The folks that attended the Carson event were conservatives. And yet, they would be quite uncomfortable here.
I have placed this great mass of conservatism in the GOPc, the conservative wing of the Republican party.
I know that to be true because I have invited many to visit our forum but they don’t stick around. The rhetoric is too intense, embarrassing really. and yet, there are the numbers needed to elect the most conservtive possible candidate.
The next president should come from the governor’s list, someone who has displayed executive ability. And my choice is Gov. Rick Perry.
His record — though not perfect, no one is perfect — is flush with record-setting jobs in his state, dealing with immigration, military service, second amendment rights and a host of other kudos.
I truly believe the nation would be safer with Perry at the helm.
If Cruz is heading the ticket an unknown Fallin might not be the best although with Cruz a gov. with executive experience would be great. Perhaps Walker. Someone everyone knows, has name recog. Name recognition is important because we have primarily stupid voters. Few are in the 1% league that post here.
If Obama were white, he would have been opposed more vigorously.
Bert/Carson 2016 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
