One week to ‘finish the job’ in Iran nuclear talks

‘Failure would be a dangerous scenario for the entire world’

Vienna: Iran and six world powers begin a final round of talks in Vienna on Tuesday aiming to overcome significant remaining differences and agree a historic nuclear deal by a November 24 deadline.

“There’s still a big gap. We may not be able to get there,” US President Barack Obama warned last Sunday.

After 12 years of rising tensions, threats of war and failed diplomacy this accord would silence for good fears of Tehran developing nuclear weapons - an ambition it has always denied.

Success could put Iran and the West on the road to improved relations after 35 years in the deep freeze. Failure could mean renewed Iranian nuclear expansion and even military action.

Chinese, Iranian FMs have phone talks over nuclear issue

English.news.cn | 2014-11-16 22:18:35 | Editor: Yamei Wang

CANBERRA, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad-Javad Zarif held a phone conversation Sunday over the Iranian nuclear issue.

Noting that the negotiations for a comprehensive agreement on the issue have entered a crucial stage, Wang urged all parties concerned to keep focused on the overall interests, adhere to the existing consensus, meet each other halfway and show flexibility, so as to reach a fair, balanced and comprehensive deal as scheduled.

China is willing to keep close contact with all parties concerned and play a constructive role, Wang added.

Zarif elaborated Iran’s stance on the issue and thanked China for its constant fair stance on the issue, saying that China has been playing an important role in promoting peace and dialogue.

Iran is willing to keep communication with China on the issue, he said.

Didn't Obama tel the Israelis (and “moderate” Arab states that:

1) He's got your back.
2) All options are on the table.
3) Iran will not be permitted to obtain Nuclear weapons.
4) There is no ISIS to talks connection.
5) Sanctions will not be weakened.

...what a load of lies and deceit. It's all over for the West, Obama lied and millions will die. What a sham of a Presidency. Iran will get all that it desires.

“There’s still a big gap. We may not be able to get there,”

Then that leaves you little choice if you want to stay credible.

But we know you won't do anything strong because you want the US to appear weak and impotent. That is the Obama plan.

Once Obama is gone we will correct the horrors he has committed in America's name!.

Gee, after 12 years of failure, what do you suppose the West will do?

My $$ is either blink and extend the deadline or outright roll over and surrender.

If the latter, they will just spin it as a victory.

I believe it will follow the China plan:
We will lift all sanctions immediately, and Iran will level off on nuclear development in thirty years.

So, yeah: surrender.

Iran will stop nuclear development as soon as they nuke everyone who isn’t Shia. Jews and Christians first.

Ha. Yeah, all we have to do is get them to sign a piece of paper and they’ll stop developing nukes. This writer really believes that?

She’s not Iranian. Both of her parents ( Barbara & James Bowman) are Americans who were living & working in Iran when she was born. They left Iran when she was 5.

I stand corrected about her parents being Iranian.

But I have not addressed the communist influences in her friends and parents' friends. I want to avoid guilt by association because that is so unfair.

Success could be worse.

The whole White House has communist connections

As for the Iranian thing...it’s been repeated so many times that people assume it’s fact. I like to try to clear it up because it doesn’t reflect well on us to continue repeating the misinformation.
