President Barack Obama will finally be making public tomorrow night what his plan is to overhaul immigration. However, while his primetime speech will postpone part of the 15th annual Latin Grammys, it will not be covered by most of the Big 4 – if any of them.
The administration announced today that POTUS will be speaking live from the White House at 8 PM ET on Thursday. ABC has the fall finale for Grey’s Anatomy on at that time while CBS has ratings powerhouse The Big Bang Theory, NBC has reality show The Biggest Loser and Fox has Bones. As of right now, three of those networks will not see any changes in their November sweep schedules due to the speech.

This will not be popular with the Average Joe, so this is not surprising. If it were something that would help Obama, it’d be on every network.

Gosh, it’s almost as if his timing was deliberate.
Shouldn’t that be “will be interrupted mid-speech for his show”?
Yes, he wants to get the biggest audiences at the expense of the celebrities he hangs out with.
It happened to Reagan at least once - before there was internet ...
He’s not being denied...it’s planned this way so that only those who are Hollywood listeners will hear this who are mostly his supporters...those who don’t watch these awards won’t hear it...who are us and usually don’t tune in for long if it all.
Obama knows there is an outcry already...so keeping the hearing audiance limited will “soften” the blow that would otherwise be a storm he does not want to deal with...why do you think Ferguson decision is also being brought down at this time and over the week-end?
The Ferguson ordeal will suck ‘all the Media’ into it’s orbit. And the blacks and other groups are ready to deliver a show none will forget.
So Ferguson will be the distraction while Obama sneaks all the illegals into ammnesty.
Maybe the whole media could turn off these speeches for the duration of his presidency.
The guy was probably a leftist plant.

I wonder if the people tuning in to watch SpongeBob will even notice.

IIRC before the elections he had problems filling 5K seat arenas, now it has gotten so bad for him the media is ignoring him.
For the sake of argument, if the President were to dissolve the other branches of government in a coup d'état, he would need the military to back him up and violate their oaths to the Constitution in the process. Were this unlikely event to happen, Cruz and the other stalwarts would be interned "for their own safety" on a military base somewhere, along with perhaps most of Congress and the Supreme Court. Such a move would be accompanied by government agents going door to door, confiscating all arms "so that the violence from the Ferguson grand jury decision cannot lead to yet more violence."
So the question would be: Would the military back such a plan -- or would the military remove him themselves with their own coup d'etat? I don't know the answer. A worst case scenario would end up with factions of the military fighting each other in a nuclear civil war.

Who would listen anyway? I mute him regardless of what he is saying or what channel he is on. Easier to “read” the same transcript the next day...the same one he reads off the TelePrompTer ...who needs to “hear” him. (I may tune in Telemundo tomorrow night just so I can mute him).

.... Lucky for the Prez ..... the less the public finds out about his Amnesty for trespassers ..... the more he will be able to get away with without much public blow-back from his vapid base.

Obviously, I was being tongue in cheek with my comment, but half serious too.
I can’t say with any certainty what’s going to happen. I do half expect him to try to create the conditions where he can assume total control. He’s been laying the groundwork for years. Dividing the country on racial lines, the military by loyalty lines, the courts against the people, the police against the people.
He wasn’t expecting the election to go as badly as it did, so now they are in full crisis creation mode, play the cards you have and bluff the rest.
I suspect that the time’s not ripe for it.....yet.
