Obama's Amnesty Threatens To Shut Down Constitution
Investor's Business Daily ^ | November 21, 2014 | IBD EDITORIALS

Amnesty: Pundits warn that a funding fight over the president's move to grant de facto amnesty to illegal aliens threatens a politically risky government shutdown. But there's something much more important at stake here.

The Founders had good reason to give Congress the power of the purse: Short of impeachment, it's the most effective way to stop a lawless president from disobeying the will of Congress and usurping powers not granted by the Constitution.

The question is: Will Congress use this power to thwart President Obama's shredding of the Constitution with his executive amnesty plan?

Incoming Senate Budget Committee Chairman Jeff Sessions is on record as opposing any long-term budget resolution that would include funding for this executive travesty. He wants a short-term bill to get us to the point where the new Congress can fund everything except the Homeland Security Office responsible for carrying out the president's amnesty plan.

Moaning, shrieking, wailing and no one does a thing. Americans are slaves, NOT free men.

This is what a significant portion of the GOPE leadership wanted.
Now they get it and don’t have to take the blame. They must be ecstatic.

Which is why Enzi will challenge his chairmanship.

My take is completely different on the Big Zero's actions. I am glad in a perverse way that he has done this foolish executive action.

What?

Obama is not a chess master. Let's take a look at how ham-handed he has used the IRS against the TeaParty, ObamaCare’s disastrous rollout, Holder in Fast & Furious, the State Dept in Bengahzi, Veterans Admin health scandal, ISIS(L)is JV, Putin is our friend, Red Line in Syria, etc. He is regularly tripped up by his own doing.

Obama is good at thinking one to two moves ahead on the chessboard of politics. This has impressed the MSM. When the likes of Putin and others play him, we need to take note of how poor a strategic thinker Obama really is and his love of micro-management & no management.

If Conservatives, Republicans, TeaParty can unite and use their heads, they can out think him, like Putin has repeatedly.

My (fear, dread, horrible nightmare) is that Ferguson will blow up into a blood bath, that a Republican House and Senate will need to address. If Ferguson blows up, it will be a “Black/African-American” media crisis. If Republicans, Conservatives and TeaParty leaders can pull together to implement some real job/education improvement programs directed at inner cities and minority populations that actually put lots of people to work, it could change the whole voting dynamic of the next election.

Imagine if the Conservatives, Republicans, TeaParty focused hearing on the impact of adding 4 million workers to unemployment rates and showed the black community what Obama was doing to them. Imagine if Congress pointed out what 4 million new workers would do to the Hispanic unemployment rate?

Now sit back and think about the huge expectations on the ACA and how the rollout embarrassed the President and all his advisers and soured the American people on his policy. Now think about Republicans referring to the Amnesty as “Black on Black” crime because it will skyrocket Black unemployment rates.

Imagine how Hispanics full of hope at getting to avoid deportation and gain work permits will be crushed when they find out they have to pay back taxes that exceed any meager savings that they have? Think of it as ACA-2! There is a good chance that the Amnesty plan being proposed is so convoluted that it will fall on its face after creating huge expectations.

My hope is that the executive actions can be turned into Lemonade and change the dynamic for the 2016 Presidential election. To do this will require thinking like a chess master not doing knee-jerk reactions to Obama’s provocations.

Sure I did — That's the verbiage that would be used to justify this crap.
I have zero faith that the courts will uphold the Constitution, they've shown that they are all to willing to throw it out and put their own opinions up as sacrosanct. The Congress, too, shows its contempt of the Constitution with its myriad laws dependent of such rulings.

Re: “The Constitution was “derailed” by misguided citizens so long ago, the ratificatons of the 16th and 17th Amendments”

At least they still believed in Amendments in 1913.

Today, judges just write new Amendments from the bench.

How are the bureaucracies going to process 5 million applications quickly? With what will these illegals prove they have been in the country for more than 5 years? What will the SS# be issued on, a Honduras birth certificate? I can see with all the delays implementing a memo from the President to change the process of issuing green cards, it will be utter confusion.

Then I see the pOTUS changing the requirements on the fly, he will degree that everybody can get a green card, no paperwork needed, just get yourself across the border and we will have tables set up to issue you a work permit and a voting card.

I agree, in fact I think MOST of the amendments from eleven on have been mistakes. A case could even be made that the bill of rights was a mistake. Some of the founders were convinced that the addition just created an opportunity for people to find loopholes. They may have been right.

"At least they still believed in Amendments in 1913."

I had indicated that citizen were misguided concerning their support for 17th Amendment because they really didn’t know what they were doing imo.
