Private Military Contractors Hired to Move Guns and Gold Out of Ferguson

Business owners in the St. Louis, Missouri area have hired private military contractors to transport guns and gold, fearing their shops will be targeted by looters if a grand jury does not indict Darren Wilson, the police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown in the St. Louis County suburb of Ferguson.

"There's a lot of people that brought in a lot of money to have people secure their assets," said Stephen King, owner of Metro Shooting Supplies gun shop, a 15-minute drive from Ferguson. "Some of those people spent $10 an hour on security guards and some people have $1,000 a day private contractors."

King confirmed that gun shops in the area are hiring private military contractors to escort the transport of their guns to secure locations. A private military contractor who spoke to VICE News on condition of anonymity said that more than 300 private military contractors, or PMCs, have been contracted for work in direct response to Ferguson security concerns.

Jared Ogden, director of operations for Asymmetric Solutions, a private military contractor staffed by former special operations forces told VICE News his company was hired by businesses to transport "St. Louis-based company assets."

"We've got our hands in a bunch things" related to security in the Ferguson area, said Ogden, a former Navy SEAL who was featured on the National Geographic reality program, Survival Alaska.

As far as I am concerned, it is just two street gangs fighting it out.

The St. Louis Chamber of Commerce has done a great job of keeping the City of St. Louis under the radar. The riots are always referred to as Ferguson, never St. Louis.

Some police can be thugs, not all and as far as I have seen, they’ve not done anything wrong in Ferguson, so it’s easy for me to find who to root for.

FWIW, last week there was a list of locations all over the country where protests were planned the day of or the day after the decision. One of them was an area near St Louis that was not in the ‘hood. There were others in target-rich areas for looters.

There’s a few places on this list that are probably on the list for that reason.

I think a few bad apples are spoiling the whole damned bunch on both sides. That being said, I’m really only interested in observing tactics at this point.

Only as a prudential move. In principle, the IRS is garbage and we owe that evil entity nothing but resistance.

The guard stands or sits in your facility and provides a deterrent to looters.

Sitting, preferably. Want them to be comfortable.

$10.00 per hour for a security guard?

My grandaughter was earning that babysitting-——3 years ago.

I thought the same thing. Sure I would trust someone I paid that little to secure my valuables.

I agree with you about bad apples. I do think it’s going to get worse before it gets better. We need some decent leadership because it all starts at the top.

They should burn their blighted cesspool of a town to the ground then the illegals will move in.

the reason for professionals is to intimidate with their presence. Rednecks would shoot on sight. That would cause a racewar, which is what Obama is actually aiming for: so that he can destroy the “teaparty” types who he sees as a danger to his utopia.

This was the same question I asked when I was a teenager in the 60s. In later years, I became aware that the Communists were the agitators instigating riots using their useful idiots and criminals such as the Black Panthers.

The Communists wanted to start a race war in the USA. The story is the same today. The local news has reported on the Communist, Black Panthers, Occupy and other Thugs presence that have traveled to Ferguson. Obama and Holder are allied with the same groups that were active in the 60s.

Same old playbook - different decade. Communists and their ilk, don’t want the USA to be strong, and they want us divided. Ever hear of divide and conquer? When the cold war ended, Communists didn’t just cease to exit, and they are still with us. Just like a bad penny. JMHO

In my Utopia, there would be no property taxes or income taxes and no seizures of such for any reason.
