Slavery levels in UK 'higher than thought'
BBC ^ | 29 November 2014 | Unattributed

There could be between 10,000 and 13,000 victims of slavery in the UK, higher than previous figures, analysis for the Home Office suggests.

Modern slavery victims are said to include women forced into prostitution, "imprisoned" domestic staff and workers in fields, factories and fishing boats.

The figure for 2013 is the first time the government has made an official estimate of the scale of the problem.

The Home Office has launched a strategy to help tackle slavery.

It said the victims included people trafficked from more than 100 countries - the most prevalent being Albania, Nigeria, Vietnam and Romania - as well as British-born adults and children.

Nowhere in this article is mentioned the Religion of Peace. There is no doubt that there is a direct correlation between the increase of the Muslim population in the UK [and elsewhere in the West] and the increase in sexual assault, forced marriage, underage marriage -- and slavery as well.

Forget the BBC. It is only worth quoting when they break their globalist progressive script, which is rare.

But mostly, forget ANY major media website that does not allow comments. If they don’t take comments in 2015, they are merely making progressive proclamations, and who needs to read them? We are bombarded with them 24/7, why go to the Beeb for more?

Slavery is one of the greatest horrors ever devised by man or the devil. It is still thriving in the world today. Anyone who wants to help destroy this evil should contribute to The American Anti-Slavery Group, an abolitionist organization, fighting hard against it.

It should be shouted constantly from the rooftops that:

Western Civilization and European people ended slavery more than a century ago.

Non-Western nations and people have not ended it yet!

I’m wondering what the levels they were expecting, to have anything above that be considered to be a shock.

You dumb Brits! You invited the bloody savages to come in and infest your country and this is what you get. Get your heads out of your arses and kick them out.

It seems to me that college related debt should be mentioned as well.

The British firearms laws are at fault. A Brit may have to travel to the continent, get some range time there, and then smuggle ammo and a weapon in order to fix a problem with immigrants abusing a local child. It would be worth it but the travel shouldn’t be necessary. Predators should know that they could pay a high price in the very short term if they harm a child.

I was not aware that the UK has Southern Plantation owners & Rednecks, the sole perpetrators of Slavery in the history of the world!

Surely Jesse and Al are en-route as we speak, to lead the marchers through the streets of Birmingham......England!

You can have either multiculturalism or a free society. Not both.

Slavery as an organized institution was probably invented in Africa and has continued to be practiced unabated to this day.

But to the Left, slavery was invented in 15-Century Western Europe and continues to this day in Wal-Mart.

The crimes discussed in this article are appalling, but to my mind they are NOT slavery, except in a metaphorical sense.

True slavery is a social/cultural (always) and generally a legal condition. The essence of enslavement is that all around accept it, as indeed often do the enslaved, as legitimate.

That’s quite different from some people kidnapping and exploiting others under a culture and legal system that will come, I assume, roaring in and disrupt the operation if and when it’s discovered. Personally, I’m up for any such operation they need assistance with.

IOW, to my mind, these people are “kind of like” slaves, they aren’t really slaves. Saying they are minimizes the true horror of slavery, the socially and legally imposed dehumanization of the slaves. Many of the “enslaved” are trapped more by their own emotional and character weaknesses than by physical force.

YMMV

It's hard to know whether Leftists are delusional or mendacious. They're probably both, and, sloppy in this as in everything, they don't bother to draw any distinction between the two.

Leftists love tyranny. They imagine themselves as tyrants, subjugating everyone else. This is their dream. In their sloppiness, they don't explore their dream any further than that.

As Aesop observed: “Any excuse will serve a tyrant”: "The Wolf and the Lamb." Familiar Quotations by John Bartlett. Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1955, p. 9
