Scott Walker plots 2016 rollout

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, pivoting from his bigger-than-expected reelection win this month, is taking active steps toward a presidential campaign that would launch next summer and contrast his record of conservative achievements in a swing state with paralysis in Washington.

* * *

“I think there’s going to be a hunger for a leader who can actually can get things done,” Walker said by phone Wednesday, even as he cautioned that he hasn’t firmly decided to run. “The closer I’ve gotten to this position, the more I’ve realized that anyone who really wants to be president has to be a little crazy … The only way you should run is if you feel called to.”

Walker is crafting a budget that he intends to be a blueprint for conservative governance. He will unveil it in late January, and the final version would go into effect on July 1 — after a spring legislative session.

“Any (presidential decision) that would come officially would have to come after that,” Walker said. “That could be midsummer. I want to fulfill those obviously important responsibilities.”

* * *

The high-profile 2012 recall race “was singularly a national election,” said another of Walker’s top advisers. “It’s almost, in essence, like you had a mini-presidential.” (emphasis added)

Mid-summer is way too late if he intends to play in the IA Caucuses. I’d really like to see him run, but I’m not waiting until Mid-summer to pick my candidate.

Scott Walker doesn’t have to pass the Wasserman Test. He has to pass the Hitlery Test.

Iowa caucus is in early 2016?

Midsummer 2015 does not seem late to me.

Being close to Iowa has it’s benefits. Like name recognition. And the ability to go there before officially declaring his candidacy.

Walker would be great, but too many influential constituents on both sides are too dependent on government spending. They’ll probably block Walker and push a candidate who’ll continue to deliver the pork until debt repudiation time.

I hope he runs. I think the three prospective GOP nominees that will get past Iowa and New Hampshire will be Ted Cruz, Scott Walker, and Jeb Bush. My biggest concern is that if there are two conservatives left standing we are going to split our votes again as we’ve done in the past and we end up with another moderate loser who will go down in the general election. Jeb Bush will not beat Hillary if he’s the nominee and you can take that to the bank!

It may not be late on the calendar but it may be too late to start courting big money donors. They’re gonna line up quickly behind a candidate and I’m afraid that would be Jeb Bush. If Walker wants in for 2016 he can’t wait until the summer to announce his candidacy for president.

There are behind the scenes rumblings that the Iowa Straw Poll is DONE. I’m okay with that,, it had turned into a slick way for the Iowa GOP to fleece the candidates. But anyone who intends to run and misses the Iowa State Fair Soap Box is missing a huge opportunity. Only those who are declared candidates are invited to speak.

And the highly regarded operatives are already getting picked off by Paul, Santorum, Perry. even Trump is interviewing the yungin’s who know how to organize and have relationships from past campaigns.

Ugh. Mr. Open Borders is bad news simply in running, because he’ll at least split the conservative vote and he’d be the end to conservatism and the GOP in America if he were actually to win the presidency.

In Wisconsin, I for one, hope he remains Governor for at least another term.

The GOPe will not support him, and too many “conservatives” will again sit home because whatever candidate is chosen will not fit all the criteria on their nitpickery political agenda, thus handing the Presidency, once again, to the Dems.

In an election between J Bush and E Warren, the “conservatives” will not vote, and we will have President E Warren. The last President Warren did not fare well, but being Obola’s chosen successor, the media will make her shine ... if you liked Obola’s policies, you’ll be in love with Warren’s. And we all will have the nitpicking “conservatives” to thank ... Again - for the third time.
