Russian Ruble Takes a Nosedive as Oil Price Drops

MOSCOW — Dec 1, 2014, 6:29 AM ET

By NATALIYA VASILYEVA Associated Press

Russia's ruble hit a new all-time low on Monday, dropping about 5 percent as declining oil prices and the conflict in eastern Ukraine weigh on the country's economic prospects.

The Russian currency traded at 52.75 rubles against the dollar in morning trading Monday after shedding 15 percent in the previous week. The ruble was also down 5 percent against the euro.

Battered by low oil prices and the conflict in eastern Ukraine, the ruble has been declining throughout the year, losing about 42 percent of this value since January.

Life is hard in Russia. Their people need compassion. While this may slow their plans to create a new Soviet Union, it could make them dangerous.

It won’t be long before the Russian people decide maybe Putin’s leadership is hurting them.

It amazes me how Russia’s leadership keeps making their country strong the military front, but leaves their flanks wide open on the economic front. It’s a lesson they just never seem to learn.

“While this may slow their plans to create a new Soviet Union, it could make them dangerous.”

I agree, this is not a good thing.

52 rubles to the dollar?

Hell, it might be time to take a trip to Russia....

That makes everything cheap.

Slowing them down as they try to create a new Soviet Union would make them less dangerous.

They deserve what they got. They decided to reject Western economic values and embrace their shirtless hero Putin. If they are too stupid to know whats good them, then to hell with them.
