The grand jury backed up the prosecutor, who had made the obviously correct decision not to prosecute, but needed some insulation between his ass and the political heat. Who better than twelve randoms? Who voted unanimously to ratify his decision not to prosecute!
Cynwoody, I was just objecting to the term “backed up.” I don’t think the grand jury took sides. It ruled based upon the evidence presented. Saying it “backed up” the prosecutor sounds like they took the prosecutor’s side, and I don’t think that is how it went down.
