"Voters are stupid" economist Jonathan Gruber and Marilyn Tavenner face Issa and the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee today on C-SPAN 3.

FOX News reports that Tavenner has asked that she be seated anywhere but next to Gruber. Apparently, Gruber is radioactive. Time will tell whether this affliction is covered under Obamacare.

Gruber’s strategy is to attempt to divorce himself from the political machinations (i.e. lies) Rats used to sell Obamacare to an unwilling and uninterested public. That is where the FRAUD took place. In addition to fraud being a salient reason why Obamacare should be repealed, it is also illegal and an area in which Gruber (and others) could face prosecution. So he’s scared, no doubt about it.

In his numerous videotaped comments, he is clearly talking as a political insider. He says, “we this, we that” as if speaking for a team of collaborators who plotted the deception. First he said his comments were “speak-o’s”. I guess that didn’t cut it, because now he says he was just being “glib” (i.e., insincere and shallow). Note he’s not saying that his comments were outright falsehoods because it would be pretty unseemly for an taxpayer funded advisor to the WH and a tenured MIT professor to admit he was lying.

His defense falls apart when it is determined 1) how much he was paid (so far not forthcoming on this) for his advice and 2) how often he communicated and/or met with WH officials (he wasn’t questioned about this today) and what was discussed at those meetings. When questioned about that, he will no doubt claim he doesn’t recall anything about any meetings. That will go over about as well as his refusal to answer today what he was paid.

This isn’t over by a long shot. That’s why Cummings and other Rats are so incensed. They are irate that Gruber told the truth about the deceptive process and understand that there may be very dire consequences for them and the bill, as a result.

Two followups Gowdy could have used that I wish I had heard:

1) After he established that Gruber "didn't mean it", start using the phrases (concerning the Gruber videos) "that you didn't even believe yourself" and "that you just said that you thought false" until Gruber corrects. A correction would be a contradiction of the testimony of a few minutes ago that he could have been mercilessly pinned down on.

2) "So your defense is that in the sophisticated academic circles you work in, instead of actually holding the American people in contempt and admitting it, you fell victim to the human need to be seen as nuanced, sophisticated, and fluent in the complex world of policy formulation at the academic and top governmental levels?"

"Yes."

Holds up Gruber health care comic book. "Do you recognize this book?"

This could be used to establish:

• The great effort he put into the working assumption that the American people are idiots. Go through the book highlights. "Do you know of any other comic books on major policy issues?"
• His actual disregard for appearing sophisticated, establishing that that excuse is a lie. "Are there any other MIT professors in policy fields who have authored comic books?" "Did you put this on your CV?"

  Then he has multiple consistent pieces of evidence that he can publicly weigh to decide between the assertion that "I didn't mean it" and the assertion that "You meant it and fraudulently based policy on it".

Thats right. Grubers work made it poissible for Obama to perpetrate fraud on the People. Gruber should be tried and if found guilty, his assets should be seized and liquidated to repay tose tax dollars.

The IRS should audit Gruber as well.That won’t be long coming because the dark lord micro-manages the IRS as well as he does the war against ISIS.

It was particularly entertaining to hear the genius deny he had any idea how much money he'd been paid to perpetrate the fraud, but referred the questioner to his attorney.

So he was completely in the dark about the amount, but somehow was certain that it wasn't as much as others had calculated.
