In the responses to my “When Whites Just Don’t Get It” series, I’ve been struck by the lack of empathy some whites show for members of minority groups. So imagine if the world were reversed. Then “the talk” might go like this:
“Don’t curse. It is wrong, but it’s the way the world works. And that’s why Mom and I are scared for you. With us whites in the minority, some cops are just going to see you as a threat no matter what. You’re going to get stopped by black cops, and I want you to promise you’ll never run or mouth off. Mom and I can’t protect you out there, and white kids are 21 times as likely as black kids to be shot dead by police. So even when a cop curses you, I want you to call him Sir.”

If whites were in the minority, most would continue to behave themselves. Most would not riot and loot upon the slightest provocation. Just like the well-behaved Asians.
Next question, Mr. Kristof?
Agree. Been there and it was not a fun time. Japan was the same. As I recall the term was “chimpo” for white people.

I minority of white people, like the Dutch Boers in South Africa, vs. a majority of black people, like the Zulus?
I know who won that fight.
What people like this author don’t realize is that there are a couple of thousand years of conflict and civilization behind how white people behave. We didn’t just assemble a constitution out of whole cloth. We had 1500 years of war in Europe to create the lessons we learned and teach our children.
When Europeans arrived in the Americas, we got a foothold on the East Coast, but then had to face off against very powerful and warlike northern and southern tribes. And only after some hideously savage wars were we able to succeed.
The bottom line is that, even as a minority, white people would succeed even if the non-white majority didn’t. It would take perhaps a few generations, but white people would be running things.
Non-white people just do not have the history or culture to beat white people. Or at least, not for long.
I, BTW, have been cursed at by a cop, and I was not a teen, I was about 45. We were waiting in line in front of 3 buses after an Oktoberfest celebration. A local sheriffs deputy started yelling at us to get on the bus. I had the temerity to ask which bus we should get on. He ran up to me and started screaming “DO YOU WANT ME TO SH!T YOU ONE?”. Despite my privileged position as a middle aged white male, I sensibly decided not to answer with “No, but I am sure you are a big enough a$$hole to do it.” I think some black people could learn from that. And, don't bother asking. I do not drink.
If whites were the minority, they’d still make up most of the police force, still wouldn’t be the majority of criminals, would still be holding mostly white collar jobs ...
I’ll bet the majority of the probably very liberal co-workers at the Slimes giggled when they read Kristof’s stupid article. They know the score. But they can’t tell anyone what they really think. I doubt even Kristof believes the bulls..t he wrote. He can’t be that stupid...I don’t think...can he?

The problem for the race baiters is that Asians and most Hispanics do not see themselves aligned with blacks. They identify with white european-derived culture.
Whites are a minority in Carribbean island nations. Whites are not being gunned down by black cops. Whites are a minority in Asian countries. They are not being gunned down by Asian cops. Because whites aren’t attacking local police officers and ground-and-pounding people in to a pulp. And when they do, they get rightfully shot.
i am sich of these race hustlers. They just can’t ever admit they (the races) have achieved equality in this country. But they don’t want that. They want revenge and power.
