Woodall (R-GA) Statement on House-Passed Government Funding Bill
House.gov ^ | Dec 11, 2014 | U.S. Rep Rob Woodall (R-GA)

Posted on 12/11/2014 8:52:13 PM PST by ctdonath2

“Congress and the American people have debated a number of different paths to try to hold President Obama accountable for his executive overreach. While there is still disagreement on which path is best, the path that we took in the House tonight is the first step to get us there. First and foremost, this bill holds the line on spending, implementing a spending level that is even lower than the one proposed in the original ‘too conservative to pass’ Paul Ryan budget. Additionally, the bill implements conservative priorities such as an increase in pay and funding for our troops, as well as accountability measures for the IRS and EPA.”

“While the bill implements restraints on executive overreach in many areas, it could not turn off the funding stream that the President intends to use for his executive actions on immigration. As conservatives, we have all been very frustrated by recent attempts at unilateral lawmaking by the Obama Administration. There is a misconception, however, that if we shut down the government that we can prevent him from acting. A government shutdown can’t stop him. His actions are funded with money that he raises through fees, so regrettably he can and will continue his unilateral efforts whether the government is funded or not. We must find another way.”

“Rather than having America’s attention focused on a government shutdown, we can shine the spotlight on the President’s egregious executive actions. By funding most of government for the long-term, but limiting funding to two months for the Department of Homeland Security—the agency planning to implement the President’s unilateral action—we will be able to narrow the entire funding conversation for the new Congress to this one department. The House, with a willing partner in the Senate having been sworn in, can then begin to move legislation to stop this President’s actions. With smart, targeted bills we will partner with the American people to restore Constitutional order.”

“Having a willing partner in the Senate isn’t ‘something’; it is ‘everything’. The House passed its funding bills beginning last May; but the Senate never passed a single funding bill all year. The American people can be certain that the new Senate sworn in this January will not repeat the current Senate’s inaction. The House can neither run the government nor rein in the President alone. Help is on the way in January, and it isn’t coming one day too soon.”

95 percent of elected Republican either pretend to be conservative or repudiate being conservative.

In a few weeks this guy and others will crown John Boehner and the leadership team that put the big spending bill through as their leaders for the new session of Congress.

....funds sent by migrant workers back to their families are a major international financial flow into Mexico..... Remittances bring more than '20 billion dollars a year' into the economy, an amount equivalent to 2.5% of Mexico’s GDP......20% of Mexican residents regularly receive some financial support from relatives working abroad. ...so 20% of their population works outside their nation.

Mexican money flow from 2007

In 2005 there were approximately 7.2 million illegal immigrants working in our civilian workforce. They accounted for 4.9% of the 148 million workers we had.

And while 31% of them were in service jobs, and 19% were doing construction work, they were in no case essential to these industries.

They just displaced American workers who couldn’t take wage and benefit cuts

No other nation on earth permits or encourages illegal immigration like we do. No other nation has “sanctuary cities” in which local authorities refuse to cooperate with federal authorities in enforcing federal law. No other nation elects politicians and judges who think law breakers should be entitled to generous taxpayer supplied benefits.

Too bad O’Reilly doesn't know this. Jorge from Univision was such a jerk regarding illegal immigration. Jorge believes that the illegals invest in the US, NO, dear Amigo. They send the money back to Cartel Land.

NATIONAL MUSEUM ‘OF AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY’:

The agreement includes ‘$24 million to complete the federal government’s contribution’ to the new museum being built on the Mall. The rest of the money will be raised through private donations.

So after all their demands in the streets they want a 24 million “CONTRIBUTION from the American taxpayer for a Museum. 24 million!!!

Why don’t the rich blacks spearheading this Museum just use that money to educate and change the culture mindset of their people so they can rise above the fray????

I sooo hate our Government more every day for it’s foolish spending!

It's so apparent what's going on with Amnesty...Government spending etc....all of it... is simply just the "purse " for politicians to bid and bribe on 'their' gameboard to see who wins and gets the biggest take they can skim off from.... They're all disgusting!

Short answer to that one: Obama has the credit card, and not paying the bill won’t stop him from using it.

No one has time to read thru 1700 pages bill as usual. GOP claimed that they can limit funding to HLS in Feb next year. It is a joke. No matter how you look at, it is a sucker deal for voters.

$300 trillion is just under a million dollars for every man, woman, and child in the country.

Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.

it could not turn off the funding stream that the President intends to use for his executive actions on immigration.

Right out of the gate he obfuscates. The bill gives $1 billion dollars to care for Obama’s illegal children.
