Protest at Primal Scream Leads to Chaotic Exchange

A group of about 30 students attempted to hold a silent demonstration in the first minutes of Primal Scream, a biannual naked run around Harvard Yard,

...

The run is a College tradition in which students, at times inebriated, run naked around the Yard on the eve of the first day of exams.

...

About ten minutes before the intended start of the run at midnight, the group of protesters convened near Harvard Hall on the path encircling the Yard and held signs..

As student streakers began to gather, talking and shouting, just a few yards away, the protesters, some of them clad in black sweatshirts with the words, “I ♥ Black People,” stayed silent. After failing to quiet the students with a megaphone, Khurana was lifted onto the back of a half-naked man, from where Khurana tried to quiet the crowd again.

When the streakers continued to talk, the protesters broke their silence, chanting, “Silence. Silence.” Meanwhile, shouts of “U.S.A., U.S.A.!” erupted from the group of runners, drowning out the calls for silence by the protesters.

...

Addressing the crowd, Walker and Sarah F. Cole ’16, another protester and president of the Black Students Association, expressed frustration that the silent demonstration did not go as planned.

I thought this might have something to do with Howard Dean.

Perhaps it was named in his honor.

It didn’t work because the students “questioned authority”.

Very odd. Protestors are supposedly holding a silent demonstration. They insist that others join them in this demonstration.

That’s not at all my understanding of what a silent demonstration is supposed to be.

Being Harvard folks, they were probably too stupid to grasp the irony of chanting “Silence! Silence!”

"White Silence Is White Violence" reads one protest sign in the crowd photograph as they tried to quiet the white students with a microphone.

Wow. White silence means violence, yet they resent whites who speaking up because they're 'hijacking the narrative', and they resent whites who won't pipe down when they demand they be silent.

Positively schizophrenic.

John Harvard, for whom the university was named, was a preacher of the Gospel.

The university was founded to educate ministers and preachers of the Gospel.

Typical of Pinkos.

They were there to intimidate -- not demonstrate.

The higher the IVY the odder the student.

Reminds me of an unverified but probably true story of an experience in a Boston Coop Grocery; A young adult enters the express (10 or less) line with many more than 10. The clerk, looking at the basket said; “You are either from Harvard and can’t read, or from MIT and can’t count!”

FYI: I visited relatives in Boston recently and was in a large book & media store. When I made a joke about where were the “Banned in Boston” items, the total incomprehension that spread out from that question not only shows the epic change in local morality but also the lack of education in local history.

Not just Harvard, but many top universities were like Berkeley too began as well until it was handed over only to have liberals overtake it.
