Having learned nothing from its in-the-tank-for-Democrats Hillary Clinton cover debacle, People Magazine is helping out President and Mrs. Obama in their efforts to play the racial victimization card with an interview bemoaning racial profiling, accompanied by a photo that shows a lot of work on making them look like an appealing couple.

Appealing couple? No amount of photo shop could do that. Plus, the "gem" quotation in the piece.......... I guess my overall comprehension skills are still intact but the wording in the statement sure seems "busy" to me. Of course the implication is there. Some black professional walks out to valet parking(?) and the attendant tells him to go find his own keys and the car? Is that it? Geez, that would be as terrible as the time eric the red got stopped by some racist white cop for speeding on the NJ turnpike. Or something. Did the lyin' king's white half respond at all? Sadly, a lot of no/low voters get all they need to know from magazines like that.

A few years back I was in Macy's doing some shopping. This older lady asked me if I worked there.

I was in my very early 20s so I fit a "profile" of someone working at Macy's.I politely told her no, but would be glad to help her if I could.

Was I offended?

Nope.

I’ve also had the experience of, mostly older short ladies, asking me to help get something off of a high shelf for them.

A lot of the "racial victimization" and "stereotyping" comes from the application of inductive reasoning, to wit:

1. any form of reasoning in which the conclusion, though supported by the premises, does not follow from them necessarily.
2. the process of estimating the validity of observations of part of a class of facts as evidence for a proposition about the whole class.
3. a conclusion reached by this process.

No less a racial expert than Jesse Jackson once famously said: “There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps... then turn around and see somebody white and feel relieved.”

If there is a basketball game at Madison Square Garden and a concert at Lincoln Center, what would my thought process be if I saw a dozen African-Americans whose average height was 6 foot six walking up Eighth Avenue? That they are in the orchestra at Licoln Center? And, equivalently, if I saw a group of short Asian-Americans walking on the same street, should I assume that they are basketball players?
