Pope Francis played significant role in secret talks to normalize relations between U.S. and Cuba

The Vatican played a significant role in healing relations between arch foes Cuba and the United States, officials said Wednesday.

Pope Francis was personally involved in secret negotiations between the longtime enemies, sources said Wednesday, as the historic announcement was made in Washington D.C. The pontiff sent private letters to President Obama and Cuban President Raul Castro over the summer, urging them to turn their swords into ploughshares.

The Pope expressed "warm congratulations for the historic decision" to resume relations, the Vatican said in a statement Wednesday.

The Vatican and an undisclosed Canadian location served as top-secret areas for negotiations between Cuban and American officials.

Florida Sen. Mark Rubio, a Cuban-American and a Catholic, called out the Pope for mixing in politics, but praised his help in gainting freedom for an imprisoned American. Rubio also criticized Obama for reaching an agreement with Castro, saying the President was trying to "appease rogue regimes at all costs."

Why not? At best, they're all statists at heart.

At worst they're all comrades.

(Not completely decided on the Pope).

Rubio’s becoming a real strong voice who doesn’t wait for a poll to determine his views. I’m liking him more every day.

Doesn’t the Pope have a huge church to run?
Kerry,Obama and the Pope are a trio out to advance the cause of world socialism.

The Pope ought to stick to theology. That picture of an eager, smiling Obama shaking the blood stained hand of Castro is shameful and disgusting. Obama is envious that the Castro brothers were able to torture and murder their pesky opponents with impunity. Obama is a vile man with an evil heart. The Pope was played for a fool.

The Pope is a Jesuit. This explains plenty, including the false vows of poverty and being “one with the downtrodden”. The history of the Jesuits belies all of that, but does put them in a position to aid evil people like obamaumao and the castros, Alarcon and the entire 3-4 generations of the ruling class of cuban totalitarian elitists, who live off the Canadian/Euro tourist money as they maintain the island Gulag.

It makes perfect sense. And in the spy world— look to the FBI’s Hansen— who justified his actions by his “religion”.
Useful idiots to the world socialist/statists.

I was thinking that January 20, 2017 couldn’t come soon enough. Then I realized we may be faced with a Clinton or a Bush in the Oval Office — a disaster either way.

I’m not sure. 40 years of embargo havent brought the Castros down. Why not try another tactic? People see the life of the Cubans in the USA and bring down Raul.

The pope, like all communists, believes that Cubans live in poverty because of the embargo, and not because of communism. In their world view, the USA is the big bad guy with all the money.
It’s obvious that we will be forced to pay billions to the castros as reparations for yankee imperialism.

“A Pope negotiated for the USA?? Since when??”

Behold the New World Order. The United States of America, her Constitution, her Soveriegnty, even her borders and protection of American citizens, are all becoming nothing but history. Obola is already a petty dictator and no one has the guts to stop this descent to third-world status.
