NAACP chief: Don't blame Democrats for NYPD shootings
The Hill ^ | 12/21/14 | Justin Sink

Posted on 12/21/2014 6:20:39 PM PST by Libloather

The head of the NAACP said it is “not fair” for the leader of a prominent police union and former Gov. George Pataki (R-N.Y.) to blame Democratic politicians for the deaths of two New York City police officers.

“I don’t believe it’s fair to link the criminal insanity of a lone gunman to the peaceful protest and aspirations of many people across the country, including the attorney general, the mayor, and the president is simply not fair,” Cornell William Brooks, the president of the NAACP, told CBS's “Face the Nation.”

Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were shot and killed Saturday afternoon while sitting in their patrol car by a man who posted messages to his social media accounts described by New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton as “very anti-police.”

Images of an Instagram account believed to belong to the suspect, 28-year-old Ismaaiyl Brinsley, said he planned to undertake the killing as revenge for the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, two unarmed black men who were killed in confrontations with white police officers. In both cases, grand juries declined to bring charges, sparking protests across the country.

Those revelations led some to charge that Democratic politicians who had been critical of police tactics and supportive of the protests were responsible for the killing.

"There's blood on many hands tonight. That blood on the hands starts at City Hall in the office of the mayor,” Pat Lynch, the president of the largest police union in New York City — the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association — said at a press conference.

In a tweet, Pataki said the deaths were the “predictable outcome of divisive anti-cop rhetoric” from New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.

While Brooks argued the shootings should not be attributed to those pushing for change following the deaths of Brown and Garner, he acknowledged they were “certainly not a step forward” toward that goal.

“We have a violence problem, and the policies we’re pushing forward protect not only the public, but police officers, and the families they hope to go home to at the end of the day,” Brooks said.

Hey in my opinion, it is exactly who I blame for this...the Democrats. You stoke it - you own it!

There is no argument that the recent support of civil disobedience by Democrat politicians and followers is a catalyst for those who may be inclined to attack anyone in authority. The lack of condemnation for criminal activity because of lawful court rulings or police actions by Democrats cannot be denied. Attacking police officers has become pack mentality for those criminally inclined. Responsible responses might avoid some of these actions.

When the Media and slimy Politicians (Obama, Holder, De Blasio, etc) put forth a meme that 'unarmed Gentle Giant' Michael Brown was shot dead while tying to surrender with his arms in the air -- yesterday's actions are not surprising. Most people get their information from the lying Media -- and when the politicians don't refute the lies (not pointing out that Michael Brown most likely was killed while attacking an officer - as supported by evidence) -- ignorant folks take the lies as the truth and react accordingly.

These murders belong on the doorstep of the Media, the Dem politicians, and the Poverty Pimps (Sharpton, Jackson, and crew).

Cornell William Brooks is living in LaLa land, what about the many non-peaceful protests calling for the deaths of LEO’s?

The democrats groomed the blacks to become what they are. They have become one of the biggest dem voting blocs and you can be certain the dems will circle the wagons around the blacks.

I’m sad that there are so many responsible decent blacks being tarred by this vocal minority.

It’s fair to blame those who inspired the killer to kill the cops. It’s fair to blame the “Political Leaders” who advocate violence against others to be accountable for their actions. It’s fair to say that the things Al Sharpton does and is doing are acts of terrorism and should be treated as terrorist acts against the People of the United States

Hey Mr. “I could have been Trayvon” Obama!

Are you admitting to breaking into houses and beating up the neighborhood watch, when you were young?

They sure as heck did it with Gabby Giffords and it was a stretch to do so. This was clear cut as the guy said it was revenge.

They tried scrubbing what he said off the net but it didn't work.
