For the third time in a month, Dish Network customers are missing out on popular programming due to a dispute with a channel owner.
This time its Fox News, one of the most popular cable channels in the United States. The channel disappeared from Dishs lineup shortly after midnight Eastern time Sunday because Dishs contract to carry Fox News expired before it could be renewed. It was still blacked out on Monday.

So glad I got rid of Sat TV.
I am extremely skeptical of this claim.
Anyone know what the per customer increase in their rates that Fox is asking?
>> I for one am about to cancel my Dish service . Forever.....
That’s the way to do it!
Now if only folks would take a harder look at Disney and Comcast.
Is DirecTV still hooked up with Verizon? I’m a very happy Verizon customer, but haven’t followed that satellite situation (though I had it years ago.)
Dish didn’t pull Fox News, 21st Century Fox did. This is just another in a long string of contract disputes between content providers and program providers. Each side makes the other side sound like bad guys and they put up temporary websites accusing the other side of being unfair.
Actually, after checking the numbers, it looks about right.
What DISH probably doesn’t want to admit as well....that forty thousand DISH customers are quitting each week. So it’s a revolving door and they have to keep offering really good entry deals for the first year....then screw you over for the 2nd year and on.
The truth is....if we could force them into corner....most of us just want the local stations, the History Channel, TBS, Fox News, ESPN, and C-SP*N. Beyond that...it’s mostly all worthless. But they keep believing that if they throw 99-channels at you....it’ll get you ready to accept $40-to-$50 for just a plain basic package, which is way more than you need.
It’s probably pretty high and 21st Century Fox is probably using their sports networks for leverage in raising the rates, as sports channels are the most expensive channels on the TV dial.
Meh.
I haven’t owned a television since March of 1995.
I ditched dish a long time ago.
And here I was thinking about switching to Dish.
they should immediately cease with the stupid excuses ,stop obfuscating, and return to normal programming . They also owe their customers a credit discount for lost programming
A credit for lost programming is in order. My understanding from website was that FOX pulled both news channels as leverage for other less demanded programs. Which ones is the mystery
I had Dish from about 1998 to 2003 or so.
At one time they charged me for a very basic channel and
then for $1.00 per month per channel I paid about $15.00
a month extra only for the channels I wanted.
We finally got so tired of watching TV-the survivor shows turned me off TV altogether. My son pays for Hulu Plus and that is all we need. We get our new here.
Just learned Comcast (owner of msnbc) is paying Al Sharptons legal bills from his many scams. Figures.
I don’t understand why there isn’t a conservative-based dish or cable company. It seems to me a no-brainer. Imagine customers that DON’T LEAVE.
Dish complaint phone number.
1-888-369-6397
I called yesterday and asked them why I’m not getting the channels that I am paying for.
The girl quickly offered me $5.00 per month off the bill or free movie channels for 3 months, which I accepted.
I urge all Dish customers to overload them with requests
Relax. They are negotiating.
Fox is trying to force higher rates for carrying their sports channels by bundling it with the Fox news channel.
Dish, as always, bargains hard. They aren’t afraid to play hardball in order to get the best rates.
And, of course, if you call Dish to complain now they will give you a credit or make some sort of offer to you. They aren’t stupid.
I really would not prefer to pay higher and higher rates because my TV provider just rolls over for content providers and passes the increases on to me.
