Where are these amazing “modern snow free roads”?

Arizona has the right idea on driver’s license issuance though:

Arizona issues an “extended” driver license that does not expire until age 65. However, your photo and vision screening will need to be updated every 12 years. Drivers 60 years old and older will receive a five-year license.

Get it at age 20 and you’re good for the next 45 years.

I was unaware of that.

I propose for southern states a law that says that people must be residents of the state for a minimum of 15 years before they can run for local office.

Call it the parasite law.

Only if they stay in a city where everything is just the flip of a switch away, albeit expensive.

The ones that move to the country here, thinking that would be nice end up leaving within a year or two-getting a job in a big city where they can live in a condo like they did in the beehive in the colder state. They can’t make do without having all the buildings, streets and stores less than a mile away, never mind having to deal with an electrical co-op, a water well, septic tank, unpaved roads and wildlife in the yard.

It sounds like you aren’t suited for the cold, just as a few people truly are not suited for the heat.

You should move, by the way I spent 15 years living in a shack on the beach in San Diego, that didn’t have heating or cooling, nor screens on the homemade shutter type windows, and the temperature ranged from the extremes of some nighttime 42 at night, to a high of 85 during the worst day.

The walls and ceiling were just 1” thick boards, with nothing else except 2” by 2” exposed studs every couple of feet, a single layer of wood for wall and ceiling, you could look through the cracks and it was very breezy, during storms it was difficult to find a place inside, where a candle wouldn’t blow out. My cat did love her heated bed.

Something I learned living there, Tomatoes are perennials and year round, and a vine that will grow, and grow, and grow, without winter.

When I lived in Wisconsin and Minnesota, the roads seemed pretty clear, unlike the old days before snow plows and such.

Depends where you live. Around here a lot of the winter are no burn days. The chimney police go around looking for smoke coming from your chimney. If they find it, they take a picture and send you a citation.

That’s why the PC term is now “climate change”. With liberals it’s all in the terminology.

A bit north of there. I don’t much like Silver City. The libtards have ruined it by ever increasing environmental restrictions on mining and ranching and attempting to turn down town into a gay/artist utopia. Used to be 2 machine shops, a hardware store and a sporting goods store that sold firearms on the main drag. Now it has plenty of boarded up storefronts of failed art galleries and buildings that are supported thru taxpayer grants for Obama propaganda such as Americor and offices of sustainability. I try to avoid going to town.

That is a different discussion, rural living, although for the average middle class homeowner, a well and a septic tank don’t make much difference in anything, just as it doesn’t make much difference which business or co-op bills him for electricity.

My half brother moved from Silver city to Alamogordo a few years ago, although his ex and kids still live in Silver city.

I think my crazy college coach ruined me for winter (working out every day in the snow even with windchills of 60 below!)my toes hurt to the touch almost year round. I have to stay here as my husband is one of those few people not suited for heat! I just whine in the winter and dream of warmer climes ;-). Opposites attract, I guess. My dad has a car with remote start, heated seats and a heated steering wheel! Maybe by the time I’m his age a car with those features will be old enough that I can afford it.

For a while Silver was growing with lots of transplants mainly from the Northeast, California, and the Northwest. I think the population is dwindling now. If your half brother or his ex had anything to do with politics here I prolly know them.

Most of us out here are working class, country raised, and used to life being a bit harder-but the people who move out here from northern cities are middle class, for the most part-and really don’t seem able to deal with life away from the conveniences, that a well runs on electricity, or how to maintain a septic tank-I don’t know why that is, just that it is.
