Rep. Ted Yoho Joins Movement Against Boehner, Offers Himself As Potential Alternative
Breitbart.com ^ | 1/3/15 | Matthew Boyle

Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) says he will vote against House Speaker John Boehner’s re-election. Further, Yoho is the first GOP member of the House of Representatives to announce he is willing to stand up as an alternative candidate to Boehner if no other alternatives emerge. Yoho joins Reps. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) in announcing he will not be voting for Boehner on Tuesday.

“I ran for Congress in 2012 because I had had enough,” Yoho said in announcing his public opposition to Boehner. “Enough of career politicians, enough of political gamesmanship, and enough of the lack of leadership in Washington. As we enter 2015, we are faced with overwhelming challenges. However, the dawn of 2015 also promises unlimited potential and the opportunity to begin rebuilding America.”

Yoho also said in his statement that he would be willing to stand up as a potential alternative candidate to Boehner, if members feel they need to vote for someone other than Boehner even though the Congressional Research Service report detailing speakership elections says there is no need for an alternative. Technically, Republicans need just 29 GOP votes for someone other than Boehner as Speaker on the first ballot—at which point the vote would be kicked off to a second or third or fourth ballot. If Boehner is not re-elected swiftly on the first ballot, it is likely that shortly thereafter an alternative would emerge.

In a news release, Rep. Bridenstine applauded Yoho’s actions. “Congressman Ted Yoho is a courageous leader. I applaud and respect him for standing up to offer an alternative to the status quo,” the Oklahoma Republican announced.

“The pressure is building and more will follow. Dump the bonehead with the perpetual tan and the four martini lunch.”

If it continues to build, I’ll be that Boehner will have a bunch of his loyalists or some democrats (through Pelosi) vote present to reduce the majority threshold.

But if he has to do this and keeps his position, his power to intimidate will be at an end.

Not encouraging, but at least someone finally stepped up.

It’s just a matter of getting to a second ballot!

If he becomes Speaker with Dem votes, the charade of the Uniparty will be over. I don’t think he wants to open that particular Pandora’s Box.

The trouble is that enough dems will vote for Boner to make certain a strong republican is not speaker.

There is just one way to oust Boner.

The conservatives would have to make it plain they will vote for Pelosi as speaker rather than Boner....and then actually do it.

A new vote for speaker can be called but so long as Boner is running the conservatives would have to vote for the dem candidate.

Eventually an acceptable republican candidate would be elected when all realize it is either that or Pelosi.

Hard core politics....

That’s exactly right! However, to these people, power trumps optics, and he’ll do what it takes to hold his position, as oligarchs always have!

Call your Representative and tell them to DUMP Bonehead. I did, but it was a call to Jim Bridenstein to thank him again for being a Patriot.

Bonehead will say this demonstrates that he can lead and reach across the aisle.

I am contacting Rep. Mullin by phone, twitter, email, etc... no response, so who knows what he will do as of right now. He has been a disappointment when it comes to really taking a stand. I wish he had the courage of Rep. Bridenstein but that does not appear to be the case.

Mullin has been a disappointment. He has learned the Washington art of compromise and excuses. The Red Rooter may be one term Rep unless he grows a set.

Bridenstein has exceeded expectations.

That’s my Congressman! Dr. Yoho is a large animal vet. In other words, he’s used to dealing with bovine stupidity, sheepish cluelessness, porcine greed, and bulls**t in general. He will put those skills to very good use in DC.

No need for an alternative, LMAO.

Anyway, that's hardly a resounding campaign announcement. But at least he's not a TOTAL wussy like Paulbot clown Tom Massie and everyone else who would sooner get dental surgery without anesthesia than seek the job themselves. I hope the protesters will vote for Yoho instead of "Porky the Pig", "Donald Duck" and other non-member non-candidates.
