KALAMAZOO and CALHOUN Co. First responders are on the scene of a massive multi-vehicle pile up Friday. Police tell Fox 17 between 120 and 170 vehicles are involved in the crash.
A witness sent video to FOX 17 of the scene on eastbound I-94 between mile marker 90 and 92, near Climax. At least six vehicles are on fire, and fireworks being carried by a truck reportedly started going off.

Not good. Refraining from pileup/climax jokes.
I am exercising similar restraint given the payload of one of the trucks that “banged” into each other was fireworks.
(Thus the evacuation order.)
Oh, my. Prayers.
I just realized that my tagline, which I rarely change or pay attention to, is either exceedingly appropriate or terribly callous.
As a former Clevelander, who traveled to Michigan many times, I can attest to lake effect whiteouts. On the WC they actually showed radar replay of the lake effect bands that came through.
This item was brought to my attention by a friend who I was supposed to meet today for dinner.
We decided to put it off.
This is the road I take to his place.
Here in Indiana (as I’m sure it is up there), the winds are strong, and the “fetch” across Lake Michigan is in full force.
The most challenging part is that it’s pretty unpredictable, like thunderstorms, you go from sun to whiteout in a couple miles driving.
Just dang.
you have a very hot climax there!

Eh, I don’t find this funny at all, and yes, I know the town Climax is near there—I drove thru lake effect snow there a few days ago.
This was pretty serious accident...
yes indeed. agreed.
a very nice road in spring summer fall
in winter, well...its winter.
i almost got swept up like Dorothy to Oz, by a twister right by Climax on I-94
they can come at you very fast without warning...
who knows, might have been fun...
(It is called Highway 94 because that is the average speed of the big rigs on it, at least between Chicago and Detroit.....in more recent times, the state has tried to enforce the speed limit more...but cars are smart and just position themselves inside the truck convoys
....
My wife hates that road! I-94 is a Death Trap!
ACCELERATE TO ATTACK SPEED!!!
understood.
(at least most of the drivers are fairly much in control of themselves and their vehicles there.....most of the time...
.....unlike some other parts of the country where more, say even 10 or 20 percent? of the drivers are out of control...on narcotics, booze, or just very angry dangerous people)
I’ve seen a whole lot worse than Michigan and I-94! But I do understand your wife’s concern, as it is a fast road
I was driving over a nearby pass the other day in snowy and slippery conditions. Most people were “in control” but following each other way too close. The too close seems fine when everyone is under control - until someone isn’t.
