Conservative Revolt Splits House GOP Group [new RSC!]
National Journal ^ | January 13, 2015 | Daniel Newhauser

Posted on 01/13/2015 10:40:31 AM PST by mrsmith

...The new group, which does not yet have a name, is being de-facto led by former RSC Chairman Jim Jordan, although the formal leadership structure could change. It will also include Rep. Mick Mulvaney, who lost an election to become the chairman last year, disappointing many conservatives. The other founders are Reps. Justin Amash, Ron DeSantis, John Fleming, Scott Garrett, Raul Labrador, Mark Meadows, and Matt Salmon. Most but not all of those members are expected to renounce their RSC memberships, along with other members who will join the group. Many of the members will meet Tuesday evening with Sen. Ted Cruz to discuss their plans and other matters over pizza, though Cruz himself has not been involved in the formation of the new group...

It is time. We have held our nose for them to give us Dole, McCain, and Romney. Perhaps another Romney or Jeb. They must learn that loyalty goes two ways. They know no fidelity to the people who elected them. It is time they learn. It may well, probably will, require they lose the next presidential election, but they must learn the lesson or be cast out into outer darkness. The time has come for conservatives to be represented. Yes I do like the American caucus...the American Party.

We need to be praying about this group of men...and their meetings...that God Himself will lead them as He did the Founders of our country.

Amen to that!

I’m waiting for the morons to show up screaming that this will “split the base” and that the GOP has to be unified.

The only problem is that to be effective in Washington, you have to be part of the ruling class. To be able to run the committees, hire the staff, and have the connections to do the Fedgov the way it is today requires that you be from one of the elite zip codes, go to the “right” school, and have a similar world view as the other elites.

Someone like Palin, Ernst, and such will be excluded. They are “not from here”, and the rest of the elected and non elected Fedgov know it. So if Jeb runs and loses (which I suspect he will), the blame will not be on Jeb or the eGop, it will be on the “Ignorant rank and file” Republicans that they don’t really like anyway.

Why do you think the TEA party candidates are so ineffective?

” He assured me that he wants to change the way the House is run. “

What a fool! Does he not know Boehner’s favorite statement?

“The check is in the mail and I won’t (we know the rest).”

What a fool or what a tool.

Same here. I have actually received two or three calls from his admin assistant, but I seriously doubt Rogers knows I am alive and live in his district. The letters are signed by the ink stamp, so he does not sign them.

This group has struck out if it has Amnesty loving Raul Labador and Justin Amash.

How Can Justin Amash be the “Conservative” Candidate if he Supports Illegal Alien Amnesty?

La Raza operative Raul Labrador promises to pass amnesty in 2015

They are not on our side.

Interesting thing is everyone else who founded the group, which are Reps. Ron DeSantis, John Fleming, Scott Garrett, Mark Meadows, and Matt Salmon, are anti-amnesty as far as I can tell from a search.

I should add Jim Jordan as well. At least he voted against Boehner’s Omnibus over Immigration and Obamacare funding.

Sadly, I think you may be right.

And .. this may be the MOST OBVIOUS REASON .. we need TERM LIMITS.

1 TERM IN THE SENATE = 6 years (if you have not been able to accomplish anything worthwhile in 6 years, you need to find a new job.

3 TERMS IN THE HOUSE = 6 years (if you have not been able to accomplish anything worthwhile in 6 years, you need to find a new job.

Mick Mulvaney is also on our side, as he is against Boehner and also wants to defund Amnesty, but he didn’t support Gohmert or whom ever else ran against Boehner. He voted present as I understand. I was being misled by another source because Mulvaney invited latinos to a townhall to hear them out and express his opinions. But he is on record as saying Boehner should fight harder against Obama’s executive Amnesty orders and undoing the Amnesty.

You never know with these guys.

My state elected 2 new republican congressmen. both of them voted for Boehner, they even pointed out reasons they didn’t like . there was overwhelming feedback telling them to not vote for Boehner. I now know where this guy’s heart is, I am done with him and I will vote against him in the primary

What I read into his reply is that he doesn’t have the backbone to stand up for the people he represents, regardless of the odds.

Well, we’ve heard from the “not pure enough” contingent, so that’d only be fair...

I think everything will work out. Nothing’s perfect of course- especially anything involving politicians.

I think the dishonesty and duplicity exhibited by so many politicians on immigration has turned it into a “tar baby”.
No conservative can touch it.

There are other issues the group could work on to advance.
Just their affect on the process of congress would be much more immense than I think many here can imagine.
