Detectives Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were killed on patrol on Dec 20

Entrepreneur contacted a Chinese newspaper with plan to donate $1m

The money was wired to New York's Detectives Endowment Association

Donor requested that Liu's father receive $100,000 a year for 5 years, and Ramos' sons have $500,000 put into their educational fund

Both families wept as they gathered to receive the gift in Manhattan

An anonymous donor from Hong Kong has given $1 million to the families of the two NYPD officers shot dead last month.

Detectives Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were murdered on patrol in Brooklyn on December 20, 2014, by a crazed gunman who then committed suicide.

On Friday, their grieving families united to receive the gift.

Liu's father Wei Tang Liu will receive $100,000 a year for five years. Ramos' two sons will have $500,000 put into their educational fund.

What a generous gift. It was heartbreaking watching Officer Liu's grief stricken widow at the funeral.

He was a newlywed, wasn’t he?

Such a shame, but thanks for posting this story. This man is indeed very generous and kindly. And so good of him not to make the gift just to the Chinese officer.

File under: NOT A RACIST.

What’s the tax rate on foreign gifts? I’m pretty sure the Feds can take 48%, I am not sure on NYC or the State.

I noticed that too.

I believe it may be Chinese tradition for the man to handle the money; I'm sure she will be well taken care of.

Gifts (especially those for college) are not taxable. But they are reportable.http://www.irs.gov/Businesses/Gifts-from-Foreign-Person

And so will the subhuman piece of rat filth Bill DeBlasio no doubt who last week said he stands by his comments that cops are racist despite the fact that minorities make up 53% of the police force which is why the killer found a Hispanic and an Asian cop in the cop car before he killed them and not two whites. If there is such a thing as Karma, I hope it comes crashing down on that rotten commie son of a bitch in the worst way imaginable. Can you believe the police unions met with him to try and get him to stop with the racist rhetoric because it was putting cops in danger, and he REFUSED ? Not one scintilla of evidence of racism in the NYPD for decades, I grew up in NYC I can’t remember one case ever, maybe the Justin Volpe case but that wasn’t really racism, that was more of a cop flipping out after he got punched. But racism? NEVER. Street smarts, yes, profiling from experience? Yes. But racism? Hell no. The only case I can recall is when Miles Davis was beat up by a cop in front of the Birdland club in the 1950s because the cop didn’t like him hanging around there. What you’ll find is fear more than anything, like the Asian cop who shot the black guy in a dark hallway last year because he thought he was going to get robbed or shot, but racism? This jackass has absolutely NO idea what the hell he is talking about. He is just the biggest punk ass mofo going. He knows damn well if ANY cop showed even the slightest bit of racism they would be absolutely destroyed.

You know, I'm way over here on the left coast but feel sorry for the great city of New York.

It was once the masterpiece of American greatness and prosperity.

My grandfather came through Ellis island back in 1900 from Finland to come to a better country.

And now New York City seems to have been transformed into a big liberal cesspool with clueless leaders.
