President Barack Obama is turning to his biggest television audience of the year to pitch tax increases on the wealthiest Americans and put the new Republican Congress in the position of defending top income earners over the middle class.

As Obama continues to signal what he will propose during Tuesday's State of the Union address, senior administration officials said during the weekend that he will call for raising the capital gains rate on top income earners and eliminating a tax break on inheritances. The revenue generated by those changes would fund new tax credits and other cost-saving measures for middle-class taxpayers, officials said. …

Another drive to make jobs disappear, which of course will hurt the middle class rather than help.

My 1% tax raise has resulted in higher withholding and less take home pay.

The only tax proposals that will help ANY class of people in this country is to have the Government spend less money(period).

The Current Occupant wants to help the middle class, get the hell out of the way.

There is “help” aplenty, but most of it is going to be of the “self-help” variety, not the ministrations of some bureaucrat. Just take away the foolish rules and strictures put on the daily lives of individuals, and they shall do a remarkable job of rolling up their sleeves, going to work, and making something of themselves, as long as they are allowed to keep a little bit of it along the way.

Raising already onerous tax rates has the most perverse effect of LOWERING revenues.

I’m predicting record low viewership. The lo-fos are bored with him. We’re sick of him. Who’s left?

It doesn’t matter that it will hurt jobs and the middle class.
This is brilliant political strategy. The narrative (”to help the middle class”) is compelling.

GOPe is too stupid to get out in front of the narrative, and now will be relegated to fighting a losing defensive battle. GOPe will be excoriated by MSM at every step for defending “the rich” no matter how little they do to oppose B0.

“The Current Occupant wants to help the middle class, get the hell out of the way.”

That should be the opposition party’s narrative and reply to this garbage.

“Mr. Obama, get the hell out of the way!”

If it’s that compelling, why does it need to be repeated so often?

Keep repeating until it sinks in. Target the 1% to pave the way for Lizzie Warren.
