Recognizing our fallibility, society should err on the side of preserving innocent life. Conflicting hearsay and self-interested decision making should not suffice to end the life of another, as it did in the Terri Schiavo case. The consequences of being wrong are simply too great.

Perfectly stated!

The left fights very hard against capital punishment because we might execute an innocent man.

But the left has no compunction about murdering innocent babies or those in persistent vegetative states.

That's the God's honest truth right there, I tell ya.

Terri Schiavo was executed in the most barbaric way imaginable over a two week period while the world watched with a judge actually denying her due process rights and illegally preventing her from complying with a Congressional subpoena.

“The left fights very hard....

the left has no compunction....”

The left is very ill. Only they don’t know it, and we tend to forget such.

A friend was in a terrible accident some years ago and in a coma for a month. Doctors said he wouldn’t remember anything. After he recovered he told me he remembered everything, including all the hallucinations he had had.

Man Awakens After 12 Years in a “Vegetative State,”

Note the quotation marks. He was never diagnosed by doctors as being in a "Persistent Vegetative State" -- unlike Terri Schiavo.

*** Clearly, we have not yet arrived at the point where we fully understand how the brain functions after injury. “Persistent vegetative state” is not a diagnosis that can be made with certainty, and this means that sometimes we’re getting it wrong, and people are being sentenced to the worst kind of death: condemned to starve and dehydrate while completely aware of what’s happening, unable to speak out or communicate a desire to live.***

We don’t know what we don’t know. Where there’s life, there’s hope!

Wrong. The quotation marks are used because “vegetative state” is a misnomer. There really is brain activity, only we haven’t figured out how to measure it yet.

"There really is brain activity, only we haven’t figured out how to measure it yet."

Then I'm confused. If you can't measure it, how do you know it's there?

We know it’s there because people come out of this state time and again, and tell us that they were aware. Clearly, we haven’t figured out the correct way to measure this activity.
