Medi-Cal applicants who have been waiting for more than 45 days can receive temporary health benefits while officials determine eligibility for the public insurance program, a state Superior Court judge ruled this week.
The suit, which was filed in Alameda County Superior Court by a coalition of health advocates and legal services groups, cited delays in enrolling pregnant women, children and adults with life-threatening conditions.
Advocates said many either had to postpone treatment or pay cash to see doctors.
Medi-Cal is California’s version of Medicaid, the publicly funded insurance program for poor and disabled residents. Prompted by the Affordable Care Act, California expanded Medi-Cal last year to include those without children and those with higher incomes.
Twelve million people are enrolled in Medi-Cal, including more than 2.7 million who have signed up since January 2014.

Holy crap, Batman, that’s sitting at a 38 billion cost per year for current enrollment, and that’s sure to keep going up, up and up as more and more illegals sign up and as medical costs per person continue to skyrocket. I guess that’s what happens when a state commits to free medicare for every human being on the planet that manages to cross the border.

As a life-ling Californian who is thoroughly disgusted with his government, the collapse can’t come soon enough. I want the RATs to run out of other people’s money ASAP. I hope that our municipal bankruptcies increase steeply so that the PE pension funds go bust. The only way to fix California is for it to rise again from it’s own ashes.
OK ... a couple of thousand or more MD's put up ONE month's worth of malpractice insurance premium and go out and buy bandaids and thread and needles and mercurochrome and iodine ... gauze and tape .. a bunch'a other stuff .. distribute amongst all the contributors, use em, charge 30% the cost of the items, a fair hourly and we have reduced the medicaL cost (which is the problem) tremendously ... bill the insurance company half of what they'd allow and ... uh ohhhh ... free market economics
I understand the hope for rebuilding from a collapse, but I wonder.......... Will CA go over a cliff and crash or simply devolve into third world status?

Good question. Most likely not. With illegals we have let the genie out of the bottle so to speak. When you look at the miserable societies from whence the’ve come, it doesn’t look good. Still, since it’s a very,very nice place to live, we do have some hope that our high-tech businesses (if they stay) can perhaps lead the way. With all the EPA stuff, it’s going to be increasingly difficult for agriculture here.
I have always been of the opinion that we should have invaded Mexico fifty years ago and sent all the White Mexicans back to Spain. Then perhaps Mexico could have evolved into a good place to live. Actually it doesn’t make much difference. Only a limited number of doctors and facilities will take CalCommieCare. Those who have taken them haven’t been paid in 6 - 9 months and require cash up front to take any more.
Increase the tax rate.
These freeloaders are just “practice” patients for med interns. My GF is a medical professional at one of the best hospitals in L.A. They usually send the Medi-Cal or ORSA patients to the state hospitals as these are where the UCLA medical students get their practice time. The Skid Row centers are where the USC Dentistry students practice too. I know, I interned there once.
