“We are facing one of the largest storms in the city’s history,” Mayor de Blasio said. “This could be a storm…the likes of which we have never seen before.”

Snow is expected to begin falling just before sunrise on Monday before the serious blizzard kicks in late in the afternoon and through Tuesday morning’s rush, forecasters said.

That comment downplays the horrific damage suffered by those of us unfortunate enough to be in Hurricane Sandy’s path.

In my area of South Philly, they let it pile up on the streets.

Nope, already early dismissal and all after school activities and late buses cancelled. Most likely snow day for Tuesday, too.

I’ve lived in the philly, south jersey, DC area my entire life (mostly philly and south jersey). We’ve had some amazing storms/blizzards in my lifetime. I think it’s worse now because more cars, travel, etc.

I have an early dismissal tomorrow already and probably a snow day or two hour delay for Tuesday.

Earlier today, while out shopping, the roads were being treated.I mentioned to my daughter that it must be pretty certain we’re getting a snow storm if they’re treating the streets already lol.

All the bridges into philly (from south jersey) were closed last Sunday. Roads were iced over and driving was awful. I had to go into the city to pick up my daughter and her boyfriend, and stopped at a friend’s house in south philly. We waited until the bridges were open and it was an ordeal to travel.

Seriously, it wasn’t any politician’s fault. The roads were horrific yet they looked fine. Last week’s storm was freaky.

No just a sign of dangerous travelling conditions. More cars and buses on the roads mean more accidents.

“Finally a post that gets it. Thank you.”

We have Freepers who live in the northeast as perhaps you do because their jobs are there which doesn't mean they are happy with Obama so I don't get dumping on everyone who lives in New York or New Jersey or farther north. I don't want anyone to die in this storm but it is going to happen to both Democrats and Republicans and they will likely be older people.

I am north of Dallas and it will be in the 70s all week until a lower temp in the 50s gets here Friday - 70s here and dangerous storm in the northeast on the same days. This is a large country to have such diverse weather at the same time.

Oh gosh, I certainly hope so! If the storm is ANYTHING like what they say, driving will be nearly impossible. Maybe if you have a Humvee, but most people don't. Also, public transportation will be VERY spotty, so people will have to wait like an hour for a bus, only to find it's so crowded they can't get on. They store the subway trains underground to protect them during storms, so getting a subway will be difficult if not impossible. A lot of people don't shovel, so pedestrians have to risk life and limb walking over icy sidewalks. If there are power outages, there won't be subways or traffic lights, so driving will be even more dangerous.

I do not want to risk my life going into school Tuesday to find 2-3 students that came in, out of classes of 34 students.

No, it really is an apocalyptic sign.
Deblasio refused to let schools close last time.

From the NYC blizzard of 1947. I remember my beloved grandmother telling me that the summer of 1947 was one of the hottest on record, from one extreme to the other in a matter of months.

It has stopped snowing here in New Jersey just across the Hudson from New York.

If the Low Pressure system stays so far East, this might be a fizzle for New York City. Bad news for Boston, though.

God’s punishment for Deflate-Gate...
