A double dose of snow makes its way toward NYC Driver miraculously survives pileup between two big rigs Motorists angry over alternative-side parking rules during snowfall New York braced for one of the biggest blizzards in “the city’s history,” with over 24 inches of snow expected to blanket Gotham on Monday and Tuesday, authorities said.

“We are facing one of the largest storms in the city’s history,” Mayor de Blasio said. “This could be a storm…the likes of which we have never seen before.”

Snow is expected to begin falling just before sunrise on Monday before the serious blizzard kicks in late in the afternoon and through Tuesday morning’s rush, forecasters said.

Garbage and recycling will be suspended Monday and Tuesday so New York’s Strongest can put full efforts into clearing up to 36 inches of snow.

I am so glad we’re catching all the breaks this winter in Michigan. No doubt its winter but we paid our dues last year.

Obama/EP{A has shut down power generating stations across America.

When such a storm hits, and power lines go down, will this possibly cause the station to be able to deal with a lower load?

Can the ‘Red States’ tell the ‘Blue States’ that their politics are the reason they are turning blue from cold, and that they really did vote to freeze in the dark.

Voting for communism should hurt - al least until the freezing to death dulls the pain.

I can assure you that 6 inches of snow ties the city up for days. Two feet will be far uglier.

GOOD!

Whatever disaster may come their way, the Big A-hole RATs desperately deserve it.

I don't know if you've ever been to NYC but I get there regularly.I can assure you that 6 inches of snow ties the city up for days. Two feet will be far uglier.Buffalo's accustomed to this kind of thing...but not Gotham.

it's remarkable that these two cities are in the same state but react as if they are worlds apart.

New York City has some cool snow removal equipment that they use when they need to clear streets in a hurry. I saw it used in Manhattan a few years ago to clear snow out of Times Square before New Year's Eve.

Basically, you place it over an open manhole and dump snow into it. It has a diesel-powered engine of some kind that generates heat and melts the snow, and it passes through a filter to screen out debris. The specs that I've seen indicate that it can melt 60 tons of snow in an hour.

It will surely test de Blasio's leadership ability.

(not a lot of suspense on this one)

The leftists love to watch others suffer so I think your estimate is in the right range, but it does not have to be that way.

That is really cool! But I’d bet they don’t have enough of them. Not too long ago (2 to 4 years?) they were trucking it out to barges.

There’s nowhere to plow the snow to! Where do you put it? On the sidewalks?

Normal people would put it in the ocean, but among barking-moonbats, common sense isn't all that common.

“Exactly! There’s nowhere to plow the snow to! Where do you put it? On the sidewalks?”

Neu Yuk Sh*ty has millions of GibsMeDats. Announce snow can be exchanged for Nikes or drugs and the snow will be grabbed before it hits the ground.

What are the odds that NYC’s Mayor heads to AZ for the Super Bowl before or while the city is still trying to clean up ?

Actually they do truck it to barges and dump it. But that takes time.

In Post 45 Alberta's Child posted a cool machine that they use too.

Um…yeah. I keep an apartment there.

During true blizzards and huge snow storms, a lot of the snow is pushed up into huge piles on the streets - where it sits for months sometimes. I still have a memory of a major storm in the late 70s, where there were huge, absolutely huge, piles of snow pushed into the gutters of 5th Avenue. Mind-boggling to look at.

Right.

Buffalo gets a lot more snow than New York City does, especially the "lake effect" snow that buries the city in the late fall and early spring.

The problem is that the New York City metro area has a population that is nearly 20 times larger than Buffalo's (about 20 million vs. 1.1 million). If you put 20 million people in Buffalo a snowstorm would be a complete disaster.
