"Cheerful" Dutch Financier Becomes 4th ABN Amro Banker Suicide [Following death of 36 last year]

Following the deaths of 36 bankers last year, 2015 has got off to an inauspicious start with the reported suicide of Chris Van Eeghen - the 4th ABN Amro banker suicide in the last few years. As Quotenet reports, the death of Van Eghen  - the head of ABN's corporate finance and capital markets -"startled" friends and colleagues as the 42-year-old "had a great reputation" at work, came from an "illustrious family," and enjoyed national fame briefly as the boyfriend of a famous actress/model. As one colleague noted, "he was always cheerful, good mood, and apparently he had everything your heart desired. He never sat in the pit, never was down, so I was extremely surprised. I can not understand."

As Niburu details, friends and colleagues were startled by the news that Chris van Eeghen had committed suicide.

He worked in Amsterdam for ABN / AMRO in the position of "head of syndicate and corporate finance markets."

Again, there is again a familiar pattern, namely that there is no indication that Van Eeghen had plans to take his life.

Ostensibly a successful banker, coming from what was described as an illustrious family. Chris was also a familiar sight in Amsterdam's nightlife scene and enjoyed national fame as possible new boyfriend of Tatjana Simic (a famous Croatian-Dutch model, singer, actress).

"I have never expected. It was an incredibly nice cute guy, "said a neighbor from Amsterdam. In banking circles he had a good reputation.

Most believe that the suicide is not related to his work at the bank,
but a former colleague had noticed that on his Facebook recently changed
its job title to "former."

Chris leaves behind a son - who had recently been cleared of cancer.

This is the 4th ABN Amro suicide in recent years...

In December last year, missing couple, Thieu (64) [a relationship manager at ABN Amro] and Ellen (55) Leenen from Valkenswaard were found dead in their car Monday afternoon in the Bocholt-Herentals canal in Mol (Belgium). The circumstances under which the car is hit water, point to suicide, police said.

In April last year killed former ABN Amro board member Jan-Peter Schmittman even suicide.

In 2009, ABN-Amro banker and Fentener Vlissingen scion Huibert Boumeester an end to his life in London to put a bullet through his head. Cause for the suicide were missed Madoff investments, was then suggested.

Without more information, I lean towards retributory actions, as opposed to other possible reasons. These guys, at this level tend to be risk takers and can make a lot of money if they are lucky. If u lucky, they lose a ot of money and anger the wrong people.

If it was a case of impending financial doom, I tend to think they’d choose to cash their chips and retire quietly.

Richard Rockefeller was a doctor. Not a banker. He was in a plane crash, not a suicide. Don’t know where this list got the idea he belonged on it.

About 400 U.S. doctors commit suicide each year - and that was before Obamacare!

One could make a long list of suicides in any profession.

A lot of top banking jobs are high stress. There are some positions where one bad decision can cost you your job.

Richard Rockefeller was a doctor. Not a banker.

Per Wikipedia:

"Rockefeller was the founder and former chairman of Hour Exchange Portland, a service credit barter in Portland and throughout the state of Maine... was president of the Rockefeller Family Fund."

Richard Gilder Rockefeller (January 20, 1949 – June 13, 2014)[1] was a family physician in Falmouth, Maine who practiced and taught medicine in Portland, Maine, from 1982 to 2000. He was married and had two children and two stepchildren. A son of Margaret McGrath Rockefeller and philanthropist David Rockefeller, he was a grandson of American financier John D. Rockefeller Jr., and a great grandson of American business magnate and philanthropist John D. Rockefeller Sr.

He was chairman of the United States Advisory Board of Doctors Without Borders from 1989 until 2010, and served on the board of Rockefeller University in New York City until 2006. In the last few years of his life, Rockefeller was working to establish better worldwide methods of treatment for individuals suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.[1]

Rockefeller was the founder and former chairman of Hour Exchange Portland, a service credit barter in Portland and throughout the state of Maine. He also served as chairman of the board of Maine Coast Heritage Trust from 2000 to 2006. In addition to his degree from Harvard Medical School,[1] Rockefeller held a master’s degree in Education, and was president of the Rockefeller Family Fund.[2]
Death

Rockefeller, an experienced pilot, was flying home after visiting his father at the Rockefeller family estate in Pocantico Hills, a hamlet in the town of Mount Pleasant, New York. The family patriarch, his father, David Rockefeller, had celebrated his 99th birthday on June 12, 2014.

Rockefeller took off from Westchester County Airport in a Piper Meridian single-engine turboprop at 8:08 a.m. on June 13, 2014, departing from runway 16 in dense fog and steady rain. Less than 10 minutes later, the Federal Aviation Administration notified airport officials it had lost contact with the pilot. At 8:23 a.m. local police in the town of Harrison, New York reported Rockefeller’s plane crashed less than a mile from the airport in the town of Harrison. Rockefeller, the pilot, was the only person on the private plane.[3][4][5
