Forget the Massachusetts Statehouse.
If U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz were really interested in fighting the "culture of corruption" in Massachusetts, she would have the FBI swarming Gillette Stadium, not Beacon Hill.
Apparently there are more inside deals and secret ballgames taking place at a rainy day New England Patriots football game than there are at a session of the Massachusetts Legislature.

Couldn’t the league fill them to the minimum and then put them in the fridge for an hour, then test them. I know they would be lower, but how much. Simple experiment really.
Deflategate reminds me of last line of a paper that was no more than an anti-voter ID diatribe I found at the NYU Brennan Justice center, they are against anything that may prevent election fraud. The line was “Voter ID only makes a difference in a close election anyway”. Deflated footballs wouldn’t make a difference in a 45-7 blowout but didn’t NE have a few close games? If this is a pattern that may have made the differences in close games as to what teams are in the playoffs or has field advantage, this could if done over a period of time have given NE a big advantage. I didn’t even mention the point spread, but I’m sure no one here unless they’re in Nevada would bet on a ball game.
I am a native New Englander and couldn’t be prouder of the Patriots franchise. Robert Kraft is genuinely a nice guy. He’s been philanthropic and kind. When the Bengals came to Foxboro this year the Patriots cheerleaders came out at one point wearing Bengals #75 jerseys in honor of Devin Still’s daughter Leah who 4 years old and fighting cancer. They are the class of the NFL on the field as well. This isn’t even close. The only franchise since 2000 with a .700 winning percentage. 3 Super Bowl wins in 5 trips not counting this Sunday’s game. 9 AFC Championship games. To be clear, no man is perfect. Not Kraft, not Belichick, not Brady. But the Patriots and their fans have been using the hashtag on Twitter: “they hate us because they ain’t us”, and it seems they are correct. Win or lose come Sunday the level of excellence of the New England Patriots makes them the model to be copied in professional football.
But, at the end of the day, what really matters is the Bruins bringing another Stanley Cup back to Boston!

“Weird that such measurements have never happened like this in another game. Green Bay nor their opponents in the frozen tundra. Buffalo (if they ever played in January, that is). NY, Philly, Chicago or other cold cities. Only the Patriots. The idea that such suspicion was raised and all the balls were brought back in during the first half to re-measure is unprecedented. Not to mention that zero of 12 balls from the Colts in the same game.
These balls were two full pounds lower than the minimum (at least some of them were). Thats a pretty big drop on a day that wasnt all that cold. Assuming they pushed the minimum to start with and filled them ONLY to the minimum of 12.5, its not likely to drop that much in a matter of an hour or so before the refs re-tested them.”[/B]
Good point, the reason is that nobody ever complained and went to the press like the Colts owner (crackhead junkie) Isray.
If measurement happened every halftime plenty of times balls would be out of spec. The likely case is that the refs don’t measure every ball, if they ‘feel’ ok they go in the bag. The rule is poorly written it fails to take into account Physics from the 1700’s.
This says more about the press and the lack of intelligence in the media than the Patriots.
The press and NFL establishment hates Belicheck.
Actually the left wing press and left press has it out for the Patriots, see Huff PO and CNN and their vitriol.
Natural processes cause balls in certain weather conditions like the conditions in the AFC championship game. Nothing was done to the balls.
It wasn’t cold temps were in the high 40s.
1) What was the testing procedure performed by the refs prior to the game and what were the conditions under which the tests were performed.
2) What were the results of the test for ALL footballs (Patriots and Colts)
3) What were the measured results of the tests performed at halftime? According to the “insider information” that has now come to light, only ONE ball was deflated by as much as 2 psi. The remaining 10 balls tested were approximately 1 psi under the league limits - repeatedly proved as “natural” by numerous empirical demonstrations. Again, according to “insider sources”, the football which fell out of these limits was the one intercepted by the Colts and kept in THEIR POSSESSION until sequestered by the refs at halftime.
4) We DO NOT KNOW that the Colts’ footballs were tested at halftime and found within NFL limits nor do we know what the original inflation pressures of these footballs was prior to introduction to the game. I have read that the Colts use a ball-warmer on the sideline for their footballs. If true, this would absolutely maintain internal air pressures within the footballs.
5) The Patriots DO NOT use ball warmers, so the footballs on their side of the field would be subject to greater fluctuation in inflation pressures due to the cold.
6) The “Person of Interest” who carried the footballs to the filed from the refs locker stopped for 90 seconds - IN A BATHROOM - before proceeding to the field. If you think it is possible to reduce the air pressure in 12-24 footballs precisely by 2 psi in 90 seconds, I think you have a great future in NASCAR.
I strongly suspect that the final word on this is that NO attempt was made by the Patriots to alter the game footballs in any way. And if there is s shred of integrity left in the NFL, they will conclude that the Patriots football held in the possession of the Colts (via interception) was subject to tampering by person or persons unknown.
Brady was coming across as a dope.
I know he’s not stupid, the whole thing is stupid, the questions were stupid, and everyone hanging on every word that they say is stupid.
The NFL should be ashamed of themselves. Their ball handling rules are worse than Pop Warner teams. OK, maybe not Pop Warner, but Division III football.
The whole thing is just a reason to hate the Pats. The penalty is the NFL version of a verbal warning. The rest of the league really needs to relax. Or do you want the NFL probing your teams every step, every week. I wonder what we would find.
I would buy tickets to go watch the Celtics. But the problem is that they have been traded to every team in the league. I dont have that much money.
The team playing at the Garden is some crappy placeholder.
I heard (yeah, I know...) that ball warmers were not allowed either.
well if you look at the video they show that is was cold enough to cause that change the rain also contributed.
