Vitriol over prayer at Fort Worth rodeo leads imam to cancel repeat

FORT WORTH — For some faithful rodeo fans, the inclusion of a Muslim imam in the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo has become a burr under the saddle.

The Stock Show has become more diverse this year as officials have let more groups offer prayers before the start of events. But the Facebook page for the 23-day event lit up this week after Moujahed Bakhach of the Islamic Association of Tarrant County led the public prayer Sunday night.

While many of the comments on the Stock Show’s Facebook page were supportive of the more inclusive prayer policy, most were not.

Opposition seemed directed not personally at Bakhach or his words but at the inclusion of a member of the Islamic clergy during a time of violence involving Muslim terrorists.

A sampling of the sentiments expressed: “I for one won’t attend an event that allows a darkness to be spoke over me,” “Muslim/Islam has no place in this country” and “I just will choose NOT to go somewhere that embraces a religion that wants me, my family and my people DEAD.”

On Wednesday, the Stock Show posted: “We would like to take this opportunity to separate fact from fiction: There was never a Muslim prayer — or a prayer of any specific religion at the Stock Show.”

You don’t see them praying to Allah at the Gay Rodeo or Black Rodeos.

For years the Muslims in the US have been a stealth bunch of Constitution destroyers. I tend to think these people are making payback for Pres. Jefferson’s Tripoli actions. Of course these Muslims also have to carry on their Nazi/Hitler connection let alone their anti Jesus/Isaac hatred. Muslims were not and cannot be by their tenants loyal to the ideas of our Founders.

WADR, I’d rather round up all the loony tunes and ship them off to Iran, or Saudi Arabia or Yemen. Permanently. Let them experience the TRUTH about the “peaceful religion”.

Muslims pray to a false god. What faithful Jew or Christian would sit and listen to such a prayer? Remove yourselves from the very presence of evil.

I make no distinction about Muslims.

An absolutely correct attitude.

I make no apologies for my views. They are based on observable facts and an extraordinarily long period of religious intolerance, belligerence and outright desire to dominate the rest of us

Again, spot on.

Maybe you can invite Imam’s to pray over a baseball game next?

Not to be confused with the "Flying Inmans", of which, I'm a charter member.

You bring Atheists into this discussion. Please read my post above. I am an Atheist. I’m uninterested in religion, per se, as long as we tolerate each other’s different views.

I, too, am an atheist, and have stated that here many times. I bite my tongue here a lot. But, since 99% of atheist are lefty loons we get grouped in with them.

About a year after 9/11, I had traveled several hours by air to visit my brother and see a big music festival. At the headliner event, I witnessed a musician take the stage and begin a diatribe against my country, my president, my religion, and on and on. The crowd cheered. I got up and walked out. I didn’t care how much money I had paid to be there, or the trouble I had gone through to do it. I wasn’t going to sit there and tolerate such BS. Just a short year prior, I had witnessed my co-workers fried on live television and then witnessed all the remembrances, candle-burning ceremonies, praying, and chants of “We will not forget.” What a crock. Less than a year later, they had forgotten.

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND why everyone in that crowd at the rodeo did not get up and walk out. I show horses. I know how expensive it is to prepare, to register, to travel, to stable at the event. I know how disappointing it would have been to someone’s kids to pull their show entries. But I would have done it, and the show manager would have seen the back of me with his/her ears ringing and gravel flying as I hauled my horses and my people the hell out of there.

It is my understanding (correct me if I’m wrong) that the imam was scheduled for a repeat performance on Monday, Feb. 2, which is “Military Appreciation Day.” Of all the ******* nerve! The FWSSR canceled the imam for that night, but has refused to issue an apology other than their disappointment at the rednecks misunderstanding their intentions and being so darned backwards and divisive.

This has GOT to stop while we still have a country left. Why are they infiltrating the rodeo of all places? Because the rodeo is as American as apple pie. If they can get a foot in the door there, IN TEXAS, OF ALL PLACES, the battle is halfway done. And from the looks of the comments at the DMN and the FB page, they knew they would get blowback and they were prepared. They are removing comments and if you didn’t know better, you’d think Texas was majority Muslim by now from the sound of it.

Radical Islam is Koranic Islam. “Moderate” Islam is camouflage.

Bravo! I remember reading an account that the original Tripoli treaty (before we gained Independence) forced our forefathers to agree we would not declare ourselves a Christian Country and we acquiesced in order to gain safe passage. After we won independence, we went pack and had that condition struck. I am not a history buff so if anyone knows different, please correct me.

Well spoken, sir!

I’m getting old, so I have a choice: die in a nursing home bed, or die on my feet, weapon in hand.

Islam has forced me to decide. Deus vult!

Great rant ... and your historical references make it clear that this problem will not go away on its own.

Islam is a cancer that is eating away at the civilized world. I think radiation therapy is the only thing that will stop its spread.

I suggest Mecca as the first treatment / injection site.
