I would go with Walker / Cruz. If Walker turns out to lean too much towards “pragmatism” Cruz would be there to push the other direction.

Cruz may have too much baggage (”Federal shutdown, anyone”?) to win in the general election, but VP candidates make great attack dogs and lightning rods.

Walker has shown with Act 10 that he can stand up to the special interests and win.

Plus, I can more easily visualize Cruz becoming President after Walker, than I can visualize Walker becoming President after Cruz. Cruz also would be useful in dealing with the Senate.

There should be NO options ruled out. Looking at Iran, that should include a nuke strike. Oil under glass. People forget (or never learned) history. Perhaps the world needs to remember that we are the only nation ever to have used not just one but two nuclear weapons in anger.

Well, the side we're backing is up for genocide for Christians. Thug dictator Assad, not so much. I like Walker, but I see no point in backing the crazies Obama backs under ANY circumstances.

I don't see this as backing anybody. Backing under Obozo is providing a group of folks hostile to the west and to us specifically with weapons and training that could easily be used against us in the near or distant future. That's just stupid. I think Walker is saying that if Syria or any entity in the region is actively attempting to enable anybody to attack the USA that threat should be neutralized using U.S. power and not proxies that hate us just as much if not more than the threat they claim to oppose.

You two should form a comedy team.

SkyDancer: Tired of being the world’s policeman. What country is worth the life of any one of our military?

Laissez-Faire capitalist: Nigeria and slave children and slaughter of innocents...yada yada yada

We can't and ought not commit our troops just because a situation is "B-A-D" in any sense of the word. I feel for Nigeria, but that's their own business as long as they're not actively trying to harm us. But we ought to take a hard line on any nation that is attempting to harm our citizens in any part of the world. SkyDancer, that's why the brave folks in our military volunteered to serve. When I was on active duty during the Cold War, we all wanted to take it to the bad guys and we all cheered when we were able to, despite the losses. I lost friends in the action on Grenada in 1983 and the Ranger Battalion that bore those losses came out of my post. But all of the outfits were was chomping at the bit to go and share the risk. If you're going to let slip the Dogs of War do so in a serious and committed manner and finish the job!

But what do I know, I'm just a history teacher. There was a time in ancient Rome called PAX ROMANA whereby a citizen could walk unarmed across the entire Roman empire and remain unmolested because of the absolute certainty of the vengeance that would be wrought by the Roman legions should a Roman citizen be attacked or even threatened in a foreign land. That is a true representation of power. It didn't last of course. Rome grew decadent and weak and eventually, that was the end of them.

The fastest way to start fixing these problems (and help reduce the debt) is to cut off ALL Foreign Aid to these countries that hate on us and use our money to harm us or our friends (like Israel). Giving them money in the hopes that they'll suddenly start liking us for our generosity is stupid. Foreign Aid should go to English speaking allies or to Israel. To further help in this endeavor, we should pull all our troops out of Europe (the EU can take care of their own issues by now without us holding their hands) and bring them home. Maybe put them on the southern border.

Never rule anything out. However, the only way to put boots on the ground is if you remove all media from the battlefield, allow the generals to bring all assets to bear (except nukes, for now) and wipe this vermin from the face of the earth. Lay such a hurt on them that they will never want to face us again. They only understand force, so force they should receive.
