Ashley Judd for governor? The actress tells Larry King it's a possibility

She’ll have to wait at least one election cycle if she decides to run, but Hollywood actress Ashley Judd is still flirting with Kentucky politics, telling Larry King a governorship sounds “interesting.”

Judd, who came within a breath of challenging Republican U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell in last year’s election, told talk show host Larry King that she is intrigued by the position of governor in Kentucky — laying out a potential platform.

“Governor seems like an interesting position too, particularly in Kentucky, where we have a mono-economy, really abusive mineral extraction, pervasive poverty, low educational attainment,” Judd said on King’s Ora TV show “Larry King Now” Friday.

“We’re really low on all the different social indices and because of my work in developing economies I actually — both as a Kentuckian and someone who’s traveled around the world a lot — have a deep bench on that stuff. And so that seemed like a possibility, but I also want to emphasize that I know that right now, I’m exactly where I am supposed to be.”

Unlike her potential run for U.S. Senate, Judd does not qualify to run for governor. A candidate must be at least 30 years old and be a state resident for six years.

Judd bought a house in Ashland in March of 2013, according to a report by The Lexington Herald-Leader.

Kentuckians will elect the state’s next governor this fall. Attorney General Jack Conway is the only prominent Democrat in the race while Agriculture Commissioner James Comer, Louisville real estate developer Hal Heiner, former state Supreme Court Justice Will T. Scott and former U.S. Senate candidate Matt Bevin are vying for the GOP nomination.

Does she have any administrative or executive experience that would be key to her successfully governing a state?

Boy that one sentence could get you in a heap of trouble with some freepers.
Taken in the wrong context and you would be chastised severly.

Ashley has all the hallmarks of a perennial loser at the polls.

Given those remarks, I take it she would finish killing off coal, turning a mono-economy into a no-economy.

As for the low educational attainment, maybe she looked in the mirror and came to that conclusion.

Yeah, that occurred to me after I wrote it, but we can’t delete here, so I’ll just have to stand by it.

How about Mayor of a town of no more than 100 people. (To limit the damage.)

OK, in case anyone else else was wondering, Larry King did not just go away when he was fired from his long standing job at CNN.

He has a daily Monday to Friday interview show on On Demand on HULU.

Ashley was exposed as a nut job last time around when she thought she qualified for Senator. I’m thinking Kentuckians will bat her aside this time, too.

Someone so stressed out by her cushy life that she has a medical necessity for a “companion animal” 24/7 is probably not a good choice for governor.

Saving the world, one cute outfit at a time!

A blogger named Josh Trevino posted a hilarious account of his travels in Africa with Ms. Judd in 2005 for the YouthAIDS organization. He was not impressed with her.

The original blog post has been removed, but there are a few copies still floating around the Internet, one of which is on FR:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/1665919/posts

The "saving the world" quote is from the original Trevino piece.

(This is a copy of a FR post I made in 2013.)

Is English her second language? Was there a point there? What a bunch of gobblygook from an airhead Hollywood type.

Dim Bulb Ashley & her Mother should be grateful to Wynonna for their cushy lives. Wynonna is the only genuine talent in that family. The ironic thing is that Wynonna was treated as second class because of her true paternity. Naomi was dating two men at the time that she became pregnant with Wynonna. One of the men was from a well-to-do family so she claimed him as Wynonna’s father. The problem was that the other guy was the true father. The truth came out when Wynonna was young because she bore a strong resemblance to her biological father. That is why she looks different from Naomi & Ashley; she is even built like her bio dad. Naomi was verbally abusive to Wynonna because of her true parentage. If you listen to any of The Judds’ songs it is obvious that Wynonna was the true talent & Naomi was only a background singer. Ashley would have never become famous if not for her sister.
