I don’t watch network TV at all but local weather if there is a storm in the area-I watch History, H2, Natgeo and Discovery sometimes, Animal channel, maybe a movie on FX-stuff like that. And I watch a couple of series on Telemundo-there is just as much sex and violence as Sons of Anarchy, Justified, etc, but no drug ads, liberal preaching, and bad guys do get offed...

But my kid is grown and doesn’t live at home, so I don’t have to set parental controls any more...

That Orwell quote is a killer! One of the best I've heard for crystallizing the essence of the "benefits" of a higher education. Part of the reason why I never attended college. I just can't stand those who flaunt having spent too many years "learning" and way too few years "doing."

Those who can, do. Those who cannot, teach. And then there are the perrennial students... who are incapable of either.

Know anyone like that?

stumble across these Pro-Dope threads on my own, probably because this @$$hole posts them nearly every day!

That this is another DL falsehood is easily seen here: http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/by:conservingfreedom/index?tab=articles

Oh, does that link to some proof that you DON'T post a dope thread nearly every day?

Too lazy and arrogant to click a link and learn, I see - yes, my link proves exactly that.

occupying the time of otherwise useful people.

LOL! And to think some say that it's pot users who won't take responsibility for their choices.

That's still your lie - but kudos on the new graphic.

A lie that you appear to me as

No, you're the final authority on how things appear to you - it's a lie that this appearance bears any correspondence to reality.

How is that different from your extrapolation from all the pot users YOU know being on welfare?

I can grasp the concept of people who are not affected badly because such a thing is plausible, and I am assured by others that they exist. [...] I am assured by so many people that there are others who are not overwhelmed by it.

It is easier to believe that there are saints, then to believe that there are no sinners.

You grasp the concept, but do you accept the fact that such people exist?

The relevant question here is whether the Judeo-Christian moral foundation collapses if less than all of it is enforced by civil law.

Reinforced, and I believe we are seeing the answer to that question played out before our very eyes.

I'm not sure there was any time in U.S. history when the entirety of the Judeo-Christian moral foundation was enforced or reinforced by civil law.

The guy in the lookout tower can see more than the guy in the basement.

Since you've never known any pot users (that admitted to it) who didn't end up on welfare while I have, your claim to be in the lookout tower is shaky.

That’s funny, because that is exactly why I am here. That is two times you’ve exposed that your motivation and mine are exactly the same. We are a little like enemy soldiers meeting on the battlefield, both fighting for “God and Country”.

I perceive that you are more of a thinker than the usual participants in these discussions. I don't mind people disagreeing with me, but I find it annoying when they disagree without even understanding what I said.

You, I think, grasp some of my argument. I think you have different foundational assumptions than do I, but I think you are not a reactionary knee jerk thinker.

I think you are willing to ponder ideas that don't fit comfy in your world view.

Anyways, I look forward to discussing this topic, and others, with you in the future.

I think people forget on the internet that they are dealing with real human beings that are more complicated than the image you get from a few dozen posts. And I think you nailed where we disagree - we’re looking at values and principles and trying to come up with a “best option” from our personal viewpoint. In the end, it’s part of the stress of living in a lost and fallen world.

In other news, I learned how to make kief the other day.

Now my neighbor, who has MS, can put it in food to ease her pain and suffering. She is not able to smoke it; it makes her cough uncontrollably and that is painful to her.

It makes me feel good knowing I helped to decrease the pain of another person.
