Tim Hortons has apologized after the owner of a Vancouver outlet soaked a sleeping homeless man with a bucket of water outside the doughnut shop.

According to 1310 News, Tim Hortons said they regret what happened and the owner acted in a "moment of frustration."

The homeless man was sleeping with his dog outside the shop at Robson and Richards Streets when the owner came out with a bucket of water and soaked the man, his pet and belongings, 1310 News reported.

The story hit social media where people were urging a Tim Hortons boycott.

The company said the franchise owner will personally apologize to the homeless man and make a donation to a local shelter.

What changed so that we as a society are unable or unwilling to get people off the streets??

They can be relied on to vote democrat for a bottle of wine and a bus/van ride to the polling place.

That punk who soaked the homeless guy, needs to be facing some charges.

We've encountered each other numerous times here on Free Republic and invariably find your posts to well-reasoned, factual and often buttressed with charts and links to validate your points. On matter ranging from the liberal mythology of JFK (and MLK) to our unwavering pro-life stances, we're in 100% agreement. This seems to be the one exception.

Rush Limbaugh has pointed out that homeless are scammers, grifters, looters and ne'er-do-wells. I think the rights of private property trump all else in this case and the manager of the Tim Hortons store was defending property against encroachment by a shiftless bum. As you know, I don't argue for its own sake. So, if you think my evaluation of the situation is wrong, I'm open for points that may cause me to change my stance. Thanks, FRiend!

Well, at least you notice it, and care. Thank you for that.

There was some court case that set them all free.

I appreciate that line of thinking. I often use that context... at the strip club... Every one of those 19 year old tatted up girls wiggling for dollars was once some daddy’s little princess. Well... these days maybe not, but I still tell myself that.

The guy could have left the poor dog alone, though.

(I’m half joking and half serious.)

Poor little dog.

Actually I agree on that point concerning the dog. The bum got himself in that condition by choices he made. He chose wrongly and became an unproductive, shiftless looter type. The dog made no such choices and was innocent of violating the sanctity of private property.

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

“He soaked the man, the dog, and the man’s belongings, that is some serious, dangerous stuff.”

Issues regarding the homeless aside, with temperatures as they are that was my first thought as well.

Thanks. That’s what I was thinking of, but the whole Scriptural quote is what was called for.

Agreed. It has been freezing, close to zero out. There had to be a different solution.

Is it really more compassionate to allow people who can’t take care of themselves to be in the streets? Instead of being in an institution? Sounds like liberal judges had their way. But are the results really better for the homeless or for society as a whole???

Or is it hateful and bigoted to even pose a question regarding how we deal.with homeless??? How many of these compassionate liberal judges would want the homeless to live in their backyard???

You need to stop describing us as having some sort of history every time you want to post something to me, just make your posts on whatever the topic is.

My take is in post 31.

Yes every homeless person is someone’s child. They all have family somewhere. Good question as to why their families aren’t taking care of them. Perhaps they have mental illness or drug problems which families can’t deal.with???

Every homeless person does have some family somewhere, but there are also reasons why they don’t live with their family members.

He made sure to soak his clothes and his bedding, there is something seriously wrong with that manager.

Thanks but I’m not persuaded to your viewpoint. The manager was in the right. End of story. Good night.

See post 29, it is one thing to be annoyed at him, or frustrated, or call a cop, or argue with him, but you don’t walk out to a man and a dog sleeping in below freezing outdoors, and wet him and his clothes, his dog and his gear and bedding.
