Cruz looking at 2016 ‘very seriously’
Washington Post ^ | February 8 | Katie Zezima

Posted on 02/09/2015 12:23:06 PM PST by SoConPubbie

reiterated Sunday that he is looking at the possibility of a presidential campaign "very, very seriously" but declined to hit back against criticism lobbed at him by a fellow Texas Republican.

In an interview with The Washington Post this week, former Texas governor Rick Perry jabbed at Cruz, noting that President Obama was also a young U.S. senator when he was elected as president.

“I think it’s one of the selling points, if you will, to the American people as they decide who is going to follow Barack Obama,” Perry said. “I think they’re going to make a rather radical shift away from a young, untested United States senator whose policies have really failed.”

Cruz, speaking on CNN's "State of the Union," shrugged off the criticism and said that Perry had done a good and effective job as governor.

"People occasionally throw rocks in politics," Cruz said. "That's his choice."

Cruz said on ABC's "This Week" that former Florida governor Jeb Bush (R) is going to have to "make the case" to Republican primary voters about his record, including his support for the Common Core standards and stance on immigration.

"What I would urge every Republican thinking about running to do -- and this is true of senators, of governors -- stand up and lead," Cruz said. "I'd be thrilled if six months from now, we have a half dozen Republicans standing and leading and making the case. There is a better way."

Cruz appeared on both programs from Germany, where he is attending the Munich Security Conference.

I know it’s early but the mainstream GOP does not like cruz. He is never getting above 3% in the polls anywhere. A lot of people see his as extreme. I don’t think we will ever have a real conservative president again. If the country doesn’t want one after Obama, they never will.

I love Cruz, but after watching Bret Bier’s 2016 special last night, I am 100% a Walker supporter. He has proven he can win (especially in blue state), and libs seethe at the mention of his name.

He would be smart To pick Cruz as his VP, and Cruz can sail into the POTUS job in 8 years.

Yea, the hated Reagan too, in fact, just like Ted Cruz, the GOP-E hated Reagan as well, for the same reasons, and yet Reagan kept soldering on and won. Any doubt that Ted Cruz won't give up as well?

I am totally on the Cruz wagon. I probably won’t vote if someone else is the nominee

Sorry, but why would I choose 2nd best, when I have Cruz??

Electability has been used many times to cover over deficiencies, see Rudy G., John McCain, Mitt Romney, all sure-fire losers.

Now, factor in the following from Walker, and I have to ask again, why would I choose a Pragmatic conservative, over a sure-fired fired-up Tea-Party principled Conservative who is leading the conservative fight on all fronts???

If there are 20+ candidates (and this is very possible) each one will get about 5 minutes of air time. There won’t be any crushing, but there will be huge money needed to carpet bomb the electorate with adverts. He better be out raising dough, hot and heavy.

“I made it my point to watch that interview. Senator Cruz was most gracious.”

I have some tickets for Power Ball for Wednesday night’s drawing. It will be between 400-500 million dollars. If I won that (I’ve never won anything), and Cruz runs for president, he would get a chunk of that, no question about it. FR would also be on the donate list. It made me feel good just to think about that.

If any of you win on any lottery type drawings, remember FR and Cruz if he runs. There must be some lucky Freepers out there. :o)

They are looking, waiting for the first time he ‘misremembers’, misspoke, or mis-(figure it out for yourself)so they can make it a comic skit or a Brian Williams moment. NEVER figure that the MSM is trying to help the enemy even a little bit.

Don't forget Katie Couric gave Sarah Palin air time (when Katie came dressed as a jack booted thug), yep, they're looking to degrade him somehow but they may have just met their match.

Remember when Connie Chung told Newt’s mother anything she said Newt told her about Hillary would be off record? Ma’s answer was “She’s a bitch”. How many weeks was that ‘off the record’ quote used?

The WAPO comments are all making fun of Cruz running.

They really think Hillary would mop the floor with him.

I’ll bet if he won the nomination the polls on that matchup would instantly scare them to death!

"...This country is about to fall anyway, and it isn’t worth it...." Holy sh*t, backwoods-engineer, did you REALLY say that? "It's not worth it anyway"??

It absolutely IS worth it, and if Ted Cruz - or Sarah Palin - has the balls to step up, we absolutely SHOULD do everything we possibly can to help fight for it - and I mean EVERYTHING.

Whatever it takes to take the country back.

Do NOT go wobbly, brother... this is not the time, and this war ain't over by a LONG shot.

You sir, have the attitude that General Gates had in “The Crossing” after George Washington announced that he planned to attack the Hessians at Trenton. If General Washington had listened to General Gates, we’d have a Queen right now and be singing “Rule Britannia”. If Ted listens to you, we’ll end up with a RINO for the Republican nomination, and He will probably lose to Hitlery, or Fauxcahontas. Never ever give up.

I did say, "it isn't worth it". It isn't worth the destruction of Ted Cruz, or his family, or the threats on his or his family's life.

And yes, I don't want the fall of America on Ted Cruz's watch.
