Ajit Pai, the sole Republican Commissioner on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), inferred in a Tweet that President Barack Obama’s secret, 332-page “Net Neutrality” document is a scheme for federal micro-managing of the Internet to extract billions in new taxes from consumers and again enforce progressives’ idea of honest, equitable, and balanced content fairness.

“Net neutrality” is to the Internet as the “Fairness Doctrine” was to talk radio. The purpose of the “Fairness Doctrine” was to shut down conservative talk radio. The purpose of “net neutrality” is to shut down conservative web activity.

There’s nothing about this that’s good for people. There’s certainly a lot about it that’s good for government.

It will end up as one of those Orwellian progressive schemes in which real diversity will be shut down in the name of promoting diversity. Thus, conservative media will be harassed in favor of local programming involving leftist grievance politics.

We will be told that "underrepresented communities" (read, Leftist pressure groups) are entitled to more broadband space, and some rationalization will be put forth to make conservative groups pay the price, either via increased fees or regulation of their content.

Just another assault on our rights. The regulation of the Internet is all about controlling free speech. Obama systematically uses government to attack conservatives and the American way of life. The IRS being the primary method thus far to attack political speech. He doesn’t have to worry about the MSM as they are in the tank for him. The current voice that makes print and cable media respond to his actions comes from the Internet.

The FCC doesn’t want to see their power go the way of the buggy whip industry. They need to expand their charter.

Expecting the RINO / GOPe wing to roll over for this - actually, they probably support it and have been collaborating.

waxenterror

Is there ANYTHING about this latest power grab that is REMOTELY Constitutional? Using a 1934 law meant for utilities as the 'excuse' nameless faceless unelected unaccountable bureaucrats seek to regulate a profoundly different invention that would not even exist until half a century from the law used. Not only that that but it stomps all over the First Amendment using fictional powers that the Supreme Court of FDR's whim made up out of thin air from the Commerce Clause. It's so outrageous a power grab even Obama's utterly corrupt stooges in the current Court of Supreme Whim could not muster up enough evil to stomach this blatant act of tyranny on previous attempts.
