Scott Walker, Lindsey Graham lead in new S.C. presidential poll

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is the front-runner in a new 2016 Republican presidential preference poll in South Carolina, while U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham is close enough to make it a statistical tie here.

But the news is less favorable for Graham in three other early voting states - Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada - where his level of support registers at negligible among GOP voters, totalling at 1 percent and below.

The poll, by the conservative Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions, put Walker is out front in South Carolina but statistically tied with Graham, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

Walker has a 12 percent following in the state, while Graham is next at 11 percent. Huckabee is a 10 percent; and Bush, 9 percent.

A recent Gravis Marketing poll, which did not include Graham, showed Bush out front with 18 percent in South Carolina, indicating he would have the most to gain if Graham opts against a White House run. Graham has said he will decide by May whether to jump in.

Graham’s numbers elsewhere, meanwhile, indicate he has far to go to get traction. The group’s poll put him statistically at a zero percent following in Iowa when grouped against 12 other Republicans with White House interests. He is at zero percent as well in New Hampshire; and is 1 percent in Nevada.

Graham and Huckabee will no doubt be teaming up to thwart any conservative (whoever it is) in SC to assist a moderate (Bush).

Huckabee teamed with McCain to screw up Romney... I ALWAYS doubted Huckabee, but after that I realized I could not trust him. I might be able to play politics.. but being President would be just over his head.

Graham will never get the votes of those who would support a younger generation of Republicans who understand constitutional conservative principles. He'll only siphon establishment votes.

If the establishment thinks this will help their candidates, it might be a miscalculation. More drama on the Republican side and no meaningful competition for the dem nomination might bring voters in for Rand Paul or another outlier. JMHO

Are people in SC blind. I mean Linny Graham. Something wrong there. I expect more from places like SC. Here in the PR of NY I am the minority. But SC?

No he isn’t. That ‘he’s for amnesty’ line came from something a WI reporter said, not what Walker said.

Walker's squishy on amnesty/immigration----but it's good to remember the viscous union fight which is his singular credential:

Walker laid the trap....provoked savage WI Dems to try to shutdown the WI legislature....then got Dems to take the blame. And the amazing thing is Walker was up against powerful teachers unions.

He can do this w/ amnesty-------if he tries.

The amnesty thing is a lie that started with a WI reporter.

Dear SC, we know you don’t want Graham as a senator, but the USA don’t want him as PRESIDENT.

Most here realize Graham is jumping in just to marginalize the votes in SC...keep out the conservatives. Huckster too.
Rand Paul, who will never be president, will also try to keep a conservative out. His followers will not vote for Cruz...because he is hispanic. They wont admit it but its true.

Mike Pence DOES look presidential. Definitely one of the (few) good guys.

Any word on whether or not he’ll run?

Believe what you want, I have listened carefully to what he has said. He wants them here and to find a way to accomodate them. Vote for amnesty and you will get it.
BTW, Fox is on board the cheap labor express as well

You were there during the interview with the WI paper that started the rumor/smear campaign?

We may have voted Newt in the primary the last go around but don't let that fool you. People in SC tend to love the RINO establishment types. Lindsey is also a vet and that carries a lot of weight here in SC. We have a lot of vets in SC and we have a lot of non-vets who support vets no matter what. So despite all of his domestic policy faults, he favors a strong US Foreign Policy, which appears to trump his faults.

I believe Pence has thrown his hat into the race.

He was urged to run when he was a Cong....but said his family came first.....

Now that the kids are older, looks like He’s ready to roll.
